The British manufacturer extends its Q Acoustics 5000 range with the release of the new Q Acoustics 5050. This flagship model features a dual 5.9″ driver and mechanically decoupled tweeter, delivering 175 watts of power.

Q Acoustics 5000: a comprehensive range

Launched last April, the Q Acoustics 5000 series forms the heart of the British manufacturer’s catalog. It sits between the highly acclaimed Q Acoustics Concept models and the award-winning Q Acoustics 3000i series. This range now includes the Q Acoustics 5010 and Q Acoustics 5020 bookshelf speakers, the Q Acoustics 5040 and Q Acoustics 5050 floorstanding speakers, and the Q Acoustics 5090 center speaker. All these speakers offer excellent performance for music and home theater listening, as highlighted in our review of the Q Acoustics 5000.

Q Acoustics 5050: C3 drivers

The new Q Acoustics 5050 floorstanding speaker uses the same technologies and innovations as the rest of the range. It is equipped with two 5.9″ midbass drivers with C3 Continuous Curved Cone technology. The latter uses a cone with a single, smooth, continuous curved profile to maximize bass response while maintaining perfect control of the midrange. This technology also optimizes phasing with the tweeter.

Thanks to its dual C3 Continuous Curved Cone drivers, the Q Acoustics 5050 floorstanding ensure a wide and perfectly controlled frequency response.

Each C3 Continuous Curved Cone driver in the Q Acoustics 5050 speaker is driven by a large magnet system. This increases power handling and cone control by over 50%. As a result, the sound is more dynamic and better controlled.

Q Acoustics 5050: decoupled tweeter

The 1″ tweeter used on the Q Acoustics 5050 floorstanding speakers is shared by all speakers in the Q Acoustics 5000 range. Like the brand’s most prestigious models, such as the Q Acoustics Concept 500 and Q Acoustics Concept 300, this tweeter is mechanically decoupled from the cabinet to limit interference with the midbass drivers. This process ensures more accurate and faithful reproduction of high frequencies. Distortion is also reduced thanks to a ventilated rear acoustic chamber.

The tweeter of the Q Acoustics 5050 speaker is fully isolated and decoupled to avoid any interference and maximize the precision of the audio signal.

Q Acoustics 5050: a sturdy, elegant cabinet

Q Acoustics has always prided itself on the build quality of its speakers, and the Q Acoustics 5050 is no exception to this rule. Its cabinetry is reinforced by braces that connect several key points using the manufacturer’s own Point to Point (P2P) method. This minimizes unwanted vibrations and resonances. In addition, the integration of Helmholtz resonators helps to neutralize and regulate pressure variations and resonances, a technique that has already been used in the Q Acoustics Concept series.

The Q Acoustics 5050 floorstanding speaker benefits from a chassis reinforced with internal braces to eliminate unwanted vibrations and thus avoid distortion at high volumes.

The sleek, minimalist design of the Q Acoustics 5050 floorstander blends perfectly with the other models in the range, offering an aesthetic uniformity ideal for home theater configurations. Its flowing lines and rounded contours accentuate its minimalist look, allowing it to integrate a variety of interior decors with finesse and elegance.

Thanks to the minimalist design shared by the entire Q Acoustics 5000 range, the Q Acoustics 5050 floorstander (center) blends easily into any interior.

With the new Q Acoustics 5050 speakers, the British manufacturer integrates the best of its recent Q Acoustics 5000 range in an even more powerful format for effective sound reproduction in large spaces. This model is already available for pre-order on Son-Vidéo.com at a price of €1,690.
