Artificial intelligence is transforming the music industry at breakneck speed. AI-generated songs are no longer just a novelty and are now flooding streaming platforms, where they often blend seamlessly with tracks created by human artists.

To bring more transparency to music streaming, French platform Deezer has unveiled an AI detector that is available for free online. Compatible with 20 streaming services, this new tool allows music lovers to check whether their playlists contain songs generated by artificial intelligence.
A cross-platform tool
Unlike many tools that are limited to a single ecosystem, Deezer’s AI music detector works with multiple streaming services. Users simply need to connect their account, authorize the analysis of their playlists, and then view a report indicating whether any AI-generated tracks have been detected.

The service is compatible with 20 major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Tidal. It is available in 27 languages and doesn’t require users to create a Deezer account, making it accessible to as many people as possible.
Why launch a tool like this now?
This initiative comes at just the right time. According to Deezer, the volume of AI-generated music continues to grow at an exceptional rate. The French company reports receiving nearly 75,000 AI-generated tracks every day, accounting for about 44% of all new tracks uploaded to the platform. Despite this massive influx of content, these tracks still account for only between 1% and 3% of the total number of streams on Deezer.
A technology already used by Deezer
This public detector is based on the same technology that Deezer has been using internally since early 2025. According to the company, its system identifies tracks generated entirely by artificial intelligence with 99.8% accuracy and has already detected more than 13.4 million such tracks.

The platform was also the first music streaming service to explicitly label AI-generated tracks. These tracks remain available to listeners but are excluded from algorithmic recommendations and curated playlists to prevent them from reducing the visibility and revenue of real artists.
Can listeners tell the difference between music generated by AI and other music?
Among the key findings shared by Deezer is a survey conducted in collaboration with Ipsos across eight countries. It reveals that, in a blind listening test, 97% of participants were unable to distinguish between AI-generated music and music created by humans.

The survey also reveals strong public support for greater transparency. For example, 80% of participants believe that AI-generated tracks should be clearly identified, while 73% would like streaming platforms to indicate when recommended tracks were created entirely by artificial intelligence.
Greater transparency in the age of AI
AI-generated music isn’t going away anytime soon. As generative models continue to improve, it will become even harder for music lovers to tell the difference between songs created by humans and those created by machines.
Rather than trying to ban this music, Deezer is focusing on transparency. By allowing users to easily analyze their playlists and see what percentage of their music is generated by artificial intelligence, the company hopes to encourage more informed listening habits while supporting human artists.
It remains to be seen whether other streaming platforms will follow suit. However, as AI-generated music continues to evolve, tools like Deezer’s detector could soon become essential for anyone who wants to know exactly who—or what—is behind the music they enjoy.
