The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 are the latest wireless earbuds in the German manufacturer’s Momentum range, renowned for its excellent audio quality. These models promise a clear improvement on their predecessors, whether in terms of sound, wireless connection, active noise cancelling or features. Are these technological innovations enough to justify their place among the best wireless IEMs?

Included accessories
The Sennheiser Momentum TW4 True Wireless earbuds come with a carrying case that doubles as a charger. They are accompanied by three pairs of in-ear tips (S/M/L) to ensure a comfortable, customized fit, as well as optimum sound isolation. Finally, the USB-C charging cable and all necessary documentation are included.

Presentation
Design
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 feature an elegant, modern design. The charging case is compact and easy to transport. It is finished with a neat mesh fabric. The earphones look sublime, while the ear tips and silicone rings have been revised. The latter offer excellent support, enabling them to be worn during a sports session without falling out. What’s more, the earbuds are IP54-certified, making them resistant to dust, splashes and perspiration. Note, however, that the earpieces remain rather large, especially for smaller ears, and may feel uncomfortable after a few hours of use.

In addition to comfort, the included accessories play a very important role in acoustic isolation and sound reproduction. We therefore recommend testing all the eartips supplied. Note that the Sennheiser Smart Control app offers a “Fit test”, indicating when the earphones are correctly positioned.
Dynamic sound with ANC
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 wireless earbuds promise the kind of listening experience expected by artists and audiophiles. They feature a 7mm TrueResponse dynamic transducer in each earpiece, offering a wide frequency response from 5Hz to 21kHz.
Furthermore, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds promise a distraction-free listening experience thanks to their active and adaptive noise cancelling (ANC) technology. This feature automatically adjusts the level of noise reduction according to the soundscape, guaranteeing total immersion in the music or audio content. Best of all, there are three levels of ANC: Off, Anti-wind, On.

What’s more, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 feature a Transparency mode that uses multiple microphones to pick up outside sounds. This feature allows you to remain aware of the sound environment without removing your earphones, making it easier to interact with the world around you.

Advanced wireless connection
Sennheiser has also focused on high-quality wireless listening. To this end, the Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds incorporate state-of-the-art technologies, such as Auracast and LE Audio, to deliver optimum transmission quality. They feature a Bluetooth 5.4 chip and support a full range of codecs, including aptX Adaptive/Lossless and LC3, ensuring lossless audio transmission. An ultra-low latency mode is also present to enjoy a film or video game without any lag between the sound and image.
What’s more, the Momentum True Wireless 4’s Multipoint function makes it easy to switch from one device to another. For example, you can listen to content on your computer or TV, then instantly answer an incoming call on your smartphone, without interruption.

Touch controls and Smart Control app
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds feature intuitive touch controls that can be customized via the app. They allow you to control music playback, adjust the volume, answer or reject calls and activate voice assistants such as Siri or Google Assistant, all with a simple touch on the earbuds.
The German brand also provides a dedicated Sennheiser Smart Control app. It gives users access to a host of features, starting with five-band adaptive equalization for personalized sound. In addition, Sennheiser has added a “sound customization” function developed in collaboration with Fraunhofer IDMT in Germany. Following a short test, the in-ear monitors intelligently adapt the sound profile to the user’s hearing.

In addition, the app features a Sound Zones function, which, thanks to geolocation, automatically applies a preset (noise-cancelling and equalizer) according to location (zone entry and exit). You can add up to 20 listening zones (home, gym, work, etc.).
Battery life
The Sennheiser Momentum Sport True Wireless earbuds offer up to 7.5 hours of music playback on a single charge and up to 30 hours with the case. A quick-charge function is also included, providing an hour of music after just eight minutes of charging. Note that they support wireless induction charging.

Listening conditions
To test these Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds (version 5.6.3), we paired them with an aptX-compatible smartphone and an HP laptop. Multipoint pairing proved highly effective and responsive, allowing us to stay in touch and switch easily between devices. We listened to music via Qobuz and Spotify.

Listening impressions
From the very first listening session, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds revealed a balanced sound. With no equalizer adjustment, they delivered a rich, detailed midrange, dynamic bass and crisp highs. The sound reproduction was natural and pleasant, bringing out every nuance of the music with beautiful precision. We also enjoyed extensive spatial imaging.

Activating the sound customization function took the experience even further. Once activated, the Momentum TW4 revealed deep, well-controlled bass, offering impressive impact, without excess. The midrange remained full of detail and pleasing to the ear, highlighting vocals with clarity and warmth. The highs, meanwhile, were clear and smooth, bringing additional finesse to the overall sound reproduction. This customization allowed us to adjust the listening experience according to our preferences and the musical genre.
The ANC worked very well, effectively blocking out background noise. Although we could hear a slight hiss in the background, the Transparency mode enabled us to remain aware of our surroundings, especially when hearing announcements at the station.
