Famous for its hi-fi amplifiers and USB DACs, the British manufacturer is now stepping into the world of connected speakers with the new Cambridge Audio Evo One. For its first model, the brand is making a splash with a distinctive wooden design, a large touchscreen and the promise of enveloping 180° sound thanks to 14 drivers.

A luxurious design

The Cambridge Audio Evo One wireless speaker is joining the British manufacturer’s Evo range, which also includes the Cambridge EVO 150 amplifier and Cambridge Audio EVO CD player. The speaker has the same distinctive design as these two models, with a very elegant walnut cabinet and a large touchscreen on the front panel. The latter makes it easier to browse through the various apps and menus. During playback, it can display album covers, track information or even a gorgeous VU meter! With its long format inspired by iconic models such as the Ruark R410, McIntosh RS250 and Naim Mu-so 2, the Cambridge Audio Evo One is a beautiful speaker that deserves to be proudly displayed on a piece of furniture.

Room-filling music

Alongside the Elipson W35 Xi and Sonus Faber Omnia, the Cambridge Audio Evo One is one of the few models capable of recreating an enveloping, stereo-like sound from a single speaker. To do this, it is equipped with 14 drivers distributed around its entire chassis. Among these numerous drivers, six 2.7” woofers are dedicated to reproducing low frequencies. The latter allow the Cambridge Audio Evo One speaker to deliver powerful bass down to 38Hz, an impressive frequency for a connected speaker! These 14 drivers are paired with the same number of amplifiers for a total power output of 700W. As a result, the Cambridge Audio Evo One promises an impressive sound for films and music.

Thanks to 14 drivers situated on the front and side panels, the Cambridge Audio Evo One wireless speaker promises a wide sound diffusion to reduce directivity and provide a true stereo listening experience.

Numerous network features

Equipped with the same network ecosystem as the brand’s amplifiers and streamers, the Cambridge Audio Evo One speaker provides many streaming options to enjoy wireless music. It offers direct access to the majority of streaming services such as Qobuz, Deezer, Tidal and Spotify, as well as web radios. It is also possible to listen to tracks shared over the local network using DLNA, and stream via AirPlay 2, Chromecast or Bluetooth.

The speaker features an HDMI eARC input that allows you to connect a television. Also included are an optical port, a line level RCA input and a phono input to connect a turntable. Lastly, a USB-A port lets you play content saved on a USB stick or external hard drive. Its DAC supports Hi-Res files up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256.
