Our expert’s opinion
With the Amiron 200, Beyerdynamic has created a particularly accomplished pair of open earbuds, capable of delivering a powerful, controlled sound reproduction, while retaining the advantages of a compact format. I particularly appreciated their comfort and versatility, whether for listening to music, calls, video content or more dynamic activities. Beyerdynamic's approach is clearly focused on sound quality, making the Amiron 200 a very convincing option in the open earbud segment.
A growing number of music lovers are turning to open earbuds for a comfortable listening experience and to remain aware of their surroundings. This open-ear format is establishing itself as an alternative to conventional in-ear earphones, provided the sound reproduction is sufficiently energetic and balanced. With the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 Bluetooth earbuds, the German brand tackles this demanding task by focusing on a powerful sound signature and a design conceived for long listening sessions. These open earbuds, priced at €179, are clearly aimed at music lovers who want to keep their listening experience lively and expressive, without completely blocking out the outside world.

Introducing the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200
The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 earbuds feature an open-ear design that diffuses sound without blocking the ear canal. The hook format ensures excellent stability and comfort for a non-invasive listening experience, compared with in-ear models in particular.

Each earbud weighs just 10.2g, making them comfortable and discreet to wear, even over long listening sessions. The charging case weighs 76g and measures approximately 9 x 3 x 6cm, so it’s easy to carry around in a pocket or bag.

The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 sports earbuds are held in place by thin, flexible silicone hooks that position themselves naturally over the ear. This solution ensures a secure fit without exerting excessive pressure. This model is clearly focused on comfort and simplicity, with ergonomics suited to a wide range of uses for versatile earbuds.

The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 feature dynamic transducers covering a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz. Each earbud also incorporates four microphones, a configuration that contributes greatly to clear, precise voice pickup.

Included accessories
Included in the box is a charging case for transporting and powering the earbuds, and a USB-C to USB-A charging cable for mains or USB charging. A quick-start guide and compliance booklet complete the package.

Bluetooth connectivity
The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 open earbuds use Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring a fast, stable connection. The SBC and AAC codecs cover the most common uses, both on smartphones and computers. With a range of around 15 meters, I was able to move around my apartment without any interruptions, offering comfortable freedom of movement. Multipoint compatibility facilitates simultaneous use with multiple devices. We regret the absence of more advanced Bluetooth functionalities, such as Auracast or compatibility with high-resolution audio codecs, now present on many open earbud models.
Touch controls and Beyerdynamic app
The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 open earbuds feature a responsive touch-sensitive surface, used to control playback and calls. This oval-shaped area is clearly identifiable with the logo and has an intuitive placement. The volume is easy to adjust, with a long press on the right earbud to increase it, and a long press on the left earbud to decrease it. Gestures are consistent and are easy to remember.
The Beyerdynamic app immediately recognizes the earbuds after connection. It displays an accurate battery level for the case, as well as that of each earbud. The interface also provides access to an equalizer with six predefined modes, accompanied by a classic graphic EQ, making it easy to adjust the various frequencies.

Personalization is at the heart of the app. It is possible to configure certain touch controls, activate or deactivate the voice assistant, and manage sound notifications. The latter are available in English or German, and can be associated to various actions such as switching on, pairing, battery level or volume settings.
It is possible to set the earbuds to turn off automatically when not in use via the Beyerdynamic app. This feature complements wear detection, helping to preserve battery life during breaks.
Battery life and resistance
The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 feature IP54 certification, guaranteeing protection against dust and water splashes. This design allows versatile use at home, on the move and during sports sessions, both indoors and out.

Recharging is done via a USB-C port integrated into the case. Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 Bluetooth earbuds provide up to 11 hours of continuous playback. The charging case extends use up to 36 hours, enabling several days of listening without intermediate recharging. A quick-charge function completes the package. A 5-minute recharge is all it takes to restore around 90 minutes of listening time.

Test conditions
For this test, I paired the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 Bluetooth earbuds with an Android smartphone, an HP laptop and a Lenovo gaming laptop. I mainly listened to music on Spotify, with complementary sessions on Qobuz. We also has several calls and meetings, and watched series, videos and podcasts on Netflix and YouTube. The multipoint function was very useful, making it easy to switch from one device to another.
My impressions
From the very first track I listened to, the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 open earbuds immediately exuded a sense of powerf power. The sound expressed itself with energy and fullness, and at no point did I notice any lack of dynamism. For open earbuds, the sound reproduction had real presence and convincing impact. The sound signature clearly emphasized the low frequencies, resulting in a rather bass-heavy reproduction that lacked a little finesse in the highs.

Do I Wanna Know? – Arctic Monkeys
The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200s strongly emphasized the low frequencies in this track, with ample and very present bass. This approach gave weight to the riff and rhythm, but the bass tended to drag a little, which reduced the legibility of the guitars and details somewhat. The reproduction remained engaging, confirming a sound signature oriented towards impact rather than precision.
On a day-to-day basis, the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 open earbuds accompanied me during calls and meetings, with a clear, natural voice reproduction. In this respect, the experience was very impressive. Beyerdynamic’s four-microphone-per-earbud architecture delivered pickup with pro-grade precision.
I was also impressed by the good directionality of the transducers. The sound was clearly directed towards the ear canal, with little sound leakage, even as the volume was increased. This control enhanced listening comfort and preserved a certain degree of privacy, something I particularly appreciated, especially when traveling.

Comfort is another area where these Bluetooth earbuds excel. The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 are lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Even when wearing glasses, they feel natural and are easy to put on. The very thin ear hook prevents any discomfort and contributes to a constant feeling of lightness. I was also impressed by how well they stay in place: I wore them during an intense session of Beat Saber, a VR video game that requires a lot of movement, and the earbuds stayed perfectly in place, even after working up a sweat!
The touch controls are practical and intuitive, with excellent responsiveness. However, their high sensitivity means that they can be accidentally activated. With my long hair, I quickly noticed that simple everyday gestures, such as tucking a strand behind my ear or slightly adjusting the earbud, were sometimes enough to activate a command. I accidentally triggered several actions, especially since some functions share the same touch-sensitive area, such as pause and pairing. As a result, you need to be particularly careful when using the earbuds. It should be noted that the touch controls can be disabled in the Beyerdynamic app, allowing you to customize their operation to suit your habits.

I also tested the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 earbuds for gaming, notably on Valorant, where I perceived a slight latency, inherent to Bluetooth, and where the absence of isolation limits interest on very nervous titles. Conversely, on Stardew Valley, the experience was very pleasant, with immersive playback and a wide, open soundstage. This ability to adapt to a variety of uses underlines the real versatility of these earbuds, even if they are not primarily intended for gaming.
Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 vs Nothing Ear (Open)

We tested the Nothing Ear (Open) earbuds at the end of 2024 (the Nothing Ear (Open) open earbuds review is available on the blog). They rely heavily on a very bold, almost “fashionable” design, which immediately catches the eye. In contrast, the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 open earbuds have a simpler, more understated aesthetic.
In terms of functionality, the Nothing Ear (Open) have the edge in certain technological aspects. They feature fast pairing via Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair, a low-latency mode and a more advanced equalizer in the app. It’s worth noting that the Nothing Ear (Open) offer pinch controls, as opposed to touch controls for the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200. However, the Beyerdynamic app wins with the number of features it offers (button customization, notifications, etc.).
The Amiron 200 boast a slightly longer battery life of 36 hours, compared with 30 hours for the Nothing. In addition, the feeling of power is more pronounced, accompanied by better sound direction control. The sound is more captivating, with better sound leakage reduction, even at high volume. This approach enhances listening comfort and the feeling of control, something I clearly preferred in use.
To sum up, the Nothing Ear (Open) impress with their functionalities, their strong visual identity and their more contained price. The Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 won me over with their versatility, more expressive reproduction and level of customization.
