A completely redesigned range
The new Radius 4G series consists of three speakers: the Radius 1 4G, the most compact model in the lineup; the Radius 3 4G, which delivers deeper bass thanks to its bass-reflex enclosure; and the Radius On-Wall 4G, specifically designed for wall mounting next to a TV. They come with dedicated accessories, including an elegant Radius Floor Stand, a Desk Pad, and two wall-mounting systems. The goal is to enable users to create everything from a compact hi-fi system to a full home theater system or a seamlessly integrated multi-room setup.
Technologies inherited from Monitor Audio’s flagship models
The main change in this fourth generation lies in the adoption of technologies developed for the brand’s most prestigious hi-fi series. The new C-CAM RST III drivers feature a ceramic-coated aluminum-magnesium alloy cone with a ribbed design that significantly improves rigidity. Combined with a redesigned surround, an optimized magnetic system, and a revised ventilation system, they promise deeper bass, reduced distortion, and a faster transient response despite the speakers’ compact size.
High frequencies are handled by a new, fully vented C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. Its external magnet design and UD waveguide ensure exceptionally uniform dispersion while minimizing distortion. Monitor Audio promises a wider soundstage, more natural vocals, and a level of precision rarely achieved in this category of compact speakers. This tweeter measures 19 mm in diameter for the Monitor Audio Radius 1 4G and 25 mm for the other models in the range.
Three speakers, three uses
The new Monitor Audio Radius 4G series consists of three complementary models, each designed for a specific use while sharing the same state-of-the-art acoustic technologies.
The Monitor Audio Radius 1 4G bookshelf speaker is the most compact model in the series. Its sealed cabinet houses a 10 cm (4″) C-CAM RST III midbass driver paired with a 19 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. Despite its exceptionally small size, it delivers a frequency response of 100 Hz to 35 kHz, a power handling capacity of 50 W, and a maximum sound pressure level of 104 dB. Its sealed enclosure prioritizes precision, fast transients, and easy placement near a wall. It fits naturally into a compact hi-fi setup, on a desk, or as a surround speaker in a home theater system.
The Monitor Audio Radius 3 4G speaker features the same C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter, but with a 25 mm diameter to extend dispersion, as well as a 11.4 cm driver (4.5″) paired with a HiVe II bass-reflex system. This upgrade allows it to extend its frequency response down to 44 Hz—more than an additional octave in the bass compared to the Radius 1—while maintaining a response up to 35 kHz in the treble. Its power handling capacity reaches 75 W for a maximum sound level of 107 dB, making it a true hi-fi speaker capable of filling a medium-sized living room. Thanks to its richer bass and superior dynamics, it can be used on its own in stereo or as the front channels of a home theater system.
Finally, the Monitor Audio Radius On-Wall 4G speaker is designed to complement modern televisions. Its ultra-slim wall-mounted cabinet features two 11.4 cm (4.5″) C-CAM RST III drivers flanking a 25 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. This configuration delivers a fuller sound and excellent dialogue clarity, whether mounted vertically or horizontally. Thanks to its bass-reflex design, its frequency response extends from 69 Hz to 35 kHz, while its power handling capacity reaches 100 W for a maximum sound level of 114 dB. Powerful enough to be used as a left, center, or right speaker, it also serves as a particularly appealing alternative to soundbars when paired with an AV receiver and a subwoofer.
