Lumene has renewed its motorised projection screen ranges with the Coliseum Silent and Show Place Silent series. Already present in the Lumene’s catalogue, these series are being updated mainly with the introduction of a new 20 W DC motor, designed to operate more quietly and ensure smoother movement. At the same time, the manufacturer offers a wide range of screens with various projection surfaces, so that each one can be tailored to the projector, the lighting conditions and the type of home theatre setup.

Coliseum Silent and Show Place Silent: two approaches to integration
Both ranges meet different installation requirements. The Lumene Coliseum Silent screens feature housing designed for wall, ceiling or suspended mounting. Its motorised screen unfolds on demand, with a lateral tensioning system to ensure the surface remains flat.
The Lumene Showplace Silent screens go further in terms of integration, with housing designed to be installed in a dropped ceiling. Once the screen is raised, it blends seamlessly into the room’s architecture. The aluminium alloy ceiling cover also features a retractable spring-loaded opening mechanism that makes installation and maintenance easier. The tensioned models in the range benefit from a lateral system that keeps the screen surface flat and uniform.
Users therefore have the choice between a classic installation with the Coliseum Silent screens and a particularly discreet architectural integration with the Show Place Silent models.
Screens tailored to every projection environment
Lumene offers these screens with several different projection surfaces, each designed for a specific purpose. The UHD 4K versions prioritise balanced reproduction. On the Coliseum Silent UHD 4K, the screen features a gain of 1, a claimed colour reproduction of 96% and a viewing angle of 160°. It is designed for projectors with a brightness of 1500 to 3000 lumens and dedicated home theatres.
The UHD 4K/8K Platinum screen surfaces are for ultra-high-definition installations. On the Show Place Silent Platinum model, the flexible PVC screen features an optical finish composed of micro-grooves with a claimed precision of one micron in order to preserve detail, texture and colour accuracy.

The Acoustic versions meet the requirements of a different configuration: a home theatre with speakers installed behind the screen. Their screen features 92,000 micro-perforations per square metre, favouring acoustic transparency whilst still displaying a precise UHD 4K image. This configuration brings the soundstage closer to the action shown on screen.
Last but not least, the Extra Bright screens are intended for living rooms exposed to ambient light. The Extra Bright LT projection surface uses ALR technology designed for long-throw projectors. For the corresponding Coliseum Silent model, Lumene claims over 85% rejection of unwanted light, a gain of 1.2 and 99% colour reproduction.
The Extra Bright UST version, meanwhile, is designed for use with ultra-short-throw projectors. Its CLR (Ceiling Light Rejection) technology specifically minimises the impact of light from the ceiling. Lumene states that this model blocks over 88% of ambient light, with a gain of 0.5 and a directivity of 140°.
From living rooms to dedicated home theatres
This variety of screens allows the Lumene Coliseum Silent and Showplace Silent lines to cater to a wide range of environments. The Extra Bright LT and UST models are naturally well-suited for living rooms and other living spaces, where windows and indoor lighting can affect perceived contrast.
The UHD 4K and Platinum UHD 4K/8K displays are better suited for installations focused on image accuracy and dedicated home theatres. The Acoustic versions add the ability to integrate front speakers behind the screen, similar to a movie theatre, to further integrate dialogue and sound effects with the projected image.
A new, quieter motor system
The main change in this new generation involves the mechanical components. These Lumene screens feature a 20 watt DC motor that operates at a noise level below 50 dB. The manufacturer also claims a lifespan of more than 20,000 cycles.
Another improvement is the S-curve control system, which gradually regulates acceleration and deceleration when the screen is lowered and raised. This system promotes smooth movement while reducing the stress placed on the screen’s surface.
Finally, the control system supports several integration options: infrared, radio frequency, RS232, RS485, and dry contacts. Position adjustment allows the fabric stops to be tailored to the installation.
In summary
With this update, Lumene is upgrading its Coliseum Silent and Show Place Silent lines with a new, quieter 20-watt DC motor, while maintaining two complementary installation approaches. Which model you choose depends on the projection environment: an ALR or CLR screen for well-lit rooms, an Acoustic surface for placing speakers behind the screen, a UHD 4K for a dedicated home theatre setup, or a Platinum UHD 4K/8K to get the most out of high-definition sources. All these new Lumene screens are available to pre-order on the Son-Vidéo.com website, with some models already in stock.
