As a journalist and editor for the Son-Vidéo.com blog, I’ve been covering audio-video equipment news for several years now, with a particular interest in hi-fi, home theater and new music technologies. My job involves reviewing, analysing and understanding the various products and innovations that shape the way we listen to music and experience the thrill of cinema at home.
My passion for hi-fi began at a very early age, in my family’s living room, where there was a set of magnificent Cabasse speakers and a stereo amplifier with a distinct character. This remarkably musical system allowed me to enjoy my first profound listening experiences. It was these personal sensory experiences that made me want to understand what lies behind great sound reproduction. I wanted to explore every part of the audio chain, deciphering their subtleties and listening to their differences. Very quickly, the desire to share this passion arose, and so writing became the obvious thing to do.
On the Son-Vidéo.com blog, I cover a wide range of subjects: reviews of hi-fi amplifiers, AV receivers, speakers, headphones, DACs and streamers, as well as technical features on power supplies, audio formats, cables, streaming technologies and the latest HDMI standards. I also write comparative guides, buyer’s guides and reports on trade fairs such as the Paris Audio Video Show. My goal is to explain precisely, without unnecessary jargon, what separates a good product from an excellent one, what makes for a magical listening session, and what can transform an ordinary installation into a genuinely incredible sensory experience.
I defend a mindful, informed approach to sound, a particular vision of musical pleasure, far removed from any preconceptions. I’m just as fond of minimalist tube systems as I am of Atmos multichannel configurations, of DAP systems as I am of big stereo amps, as long as the listening experience is coherent, accurate and full of life. At home, I like to switch between tube and transistor amps, vintage speakers, flat panel speakers and headphones, depending on the mood and what music I’m listening to at the time.
See you soon on the blog!
