The Paris Audio Video Show was held on November 5 and 6 at the Palais des Congrès, much to the delight of sound and image enthusiasts. A unique opportunity to discover the most exquisite hi-fi and home theater systems of the moment and to test the best TVs and projectors of 2022 during exceptional demonstrations. Sony: Mini LED TV for movies and games
At the Sony booth of the Paris Audio Video Show 2022, televisions and SXRD projectors were in the spotlight with the Japanese manufacturer’s flagships on display. Sony presented the Sony XR-75X95K, a 1.89m (75 inches) 4K TV with Mini LED backlighting offering exceptional contrast.
Video game fans were spoiled as Sony provided visitors with a real cockpit to enjoy Gran Turismo on PlayStation 5.
LG: OLED Lifestyle TVs and Atmos soundbars
At its booth, the Korean manufacturer promoted its OLED TVs and Dolby Atmos soundbars. The opportunity for visitors to the Paris Audio Video Show to discover the brand-new Lifestyle TVs in the LG Objet Collection series: the LG OLED Posé and LG OLED Easel.
The LG OLED Posé Lifestyle TVs combine a beautiful design and advanced technologies in a high-end package. Mounted on metal legs, these LG Lifestyle TVs feature a clever cable management system and come with a storage solution behind the screen. They include the main features of the LG OLED C2 TV range to ensure the best picture quality (HDR10 and Dolby Vision IQ, LG α9 Gen5AI 4K video processor).
Naturally, the soundbar integrated under the panel of LG OLED TVs Posé is Dolby Atmos compatible. Suitable for video games, LG OLED Posé televisions support 4K 120Hz (HDMI 2.1) streaming, as well as VRR G-sync, Freesync and ALLM technologies. Finally, in addition to being Apple AirPlay 2 compatible and incorporating the LG ThinQ AI virtual assistant, these LG 2022 OLED TVs feature Alexa and Google Assistant. Consequently, they can be controlled vocally.
Not far from the LG OLED TV Posé, lovers of beautiful high-tech objects could admire the magnificent LG OLED Easel TV. This 164cm (65″) model is mounted on a pedestal, like a painting on its easel. The front is adorned with a motorized fabric cover that can partially hide the screen to limit its visual footprint and facilitate its integration in a bedroom or living room.
LG also presented its iconic LG OLED G2 range with the LG OLED 65G2. The latter was presented in a wall installation along with a Dolby Atmos LG S90QY soundbar, a 5.1.3 channel version of the LG S95QR soundbar that is compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X over 9.1.5 channels.
Gamers were also able to appreciate the smoothness and image quality of the LG OLED42C2 combined with an Xbox Series X console. Part of the LG OLED C2 range and best-seller of the Korean manufacturer, this 107cm TV is 4K 120Hz compatible via its HDMI 2.1 inputs and supports Nvidia G-Sync as well as AMD FreeSync (VRR) technologies. Once your game is over, the LG OLED C2 series also puts its 4K HDR picture quality to good use with your favorite movies, which are enhanced by its HDR10 and Dolby Vision compatibility.
To effectively reproduce the soundtracks of video games and movies with a minimal footprint, this LG OLED42C2 TV was paired with the ultra-compact LG GP9 soundbar. This unique model intended mainly for gaming is characterized by its premium features: 32-bit DAC ES9038 Pro, Hi-Res Audio certification, 3D audio spatialization, specific sound modes dedicated to FPS and RTS, built-in microphone, headphone jack and equalizer (via the dedicated application). As an added bonus, the LG GP9 soundbar includes a rechargeable battery and a Bluetooth controller. It can therefore be used as a portable Bluetooth speaker (up to 5 hours of autonomy) to listen to music anywhere!
Philips: Ambilight OLED TV, Atmos soundbar and DTS Play-Fi
On the Philips stand, OLED technology was also the center of attention with the Philips OLED 807, Philips OLED 907 and Philips OLED 937 ranges, all featuring proprietary Ambilight technology. This process, exclusive to the Dutch manufacturer, relies on colored LEDs implanted on the back of the screen to project a colored halo on the wall behind the television. The colors adapt in real time to the images displayed on the screen, which extends the range of the image.
Entry-level models in the Philips 2022 OLED TV range, the Philips OLED807 TVs are HDR10+ Adaptive and Dolby Vision compatible. They feature the Philips P5 AI Perfect Picture Engine with artificial intelligence that enhances contrast, color, sharpness, smoothness and detail for crisp, natural-looking images. The 70-watt 2.1 audio section of these Philips OLED TVs is Dolby Atmos and DTS HD compatible so that movie and video game soundtracks gain amplitude and immersiveness. The integrated DTS Play-Fi technology also allows you to wirelessly connect a soundbar and wireless speakers to the TV.
These Philips OLED807 TVs adopt Android TV to access Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV+ and YouTube. Four HDMI ports are present, including two 4K 120Hz compatible HDMI 2.1 connectors. Optimal smoothness with the latest video games is ensured by VRR, G-Sync and FreeSync Premium technologies.

The Philips OLED907 TVs feature the Philips P5 AI Perfect Picture Engine with artificial intelligence. The latter improves contrast, color, sharpness, smoothness and detail to display accurate and natural images. The built-in 80-watt soundbar is made by Bowers & Wilkins and plays Dolby Atmos and DTS HD soundtracks over 3.1 channels. You can enjoy an extensive and very immersive sound atmosphere with movie and video game soundtracks. Like other 2022 Philips OLED TVs, this Philips OLED907 range adopts Android TV and integrates Google Assistant for search and voice control. Four HDMI ports are also present, including two 4K 120Hz-capable HDMI 2.1 ports with support for VRR, G-Sync, and FreeSync Premium technologies. This gives you the best possible smoothness with the latest video games.
Flagship of the Philips 2022 OLED TV range, the Philips OLED937 series stands out for its OLED EX Royal panel (maximum peak brightness of 1300 nits) and its 5.1.2 channel audio section. Developed in partnership with Bowers & Wilkins, it takes the form of a soundbar integrated into the TV stand. Dolby Atmos compatible, it is equipped with a central decoupled tweeter, like the high-end speakers of the British manufacturer.
Regarding image processing, the Philips OLED937 models benefit from a new P5 AI Dual processor with artificial intelligence. It takes advantage of high-performance algorithms to optimize the contrast, colors, sharpness, fluidity and level of details for an extremely realistic result on the screen. These smart TVs feature Android TV to access Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Prime Video and many other online services.
This Philips 7.1.2 channel soundbar with an output power of 310W RMS is Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatible with an IMAX Enhanced certification. It has an acoustic calibration function with a microphone that guarantees optimal reproduction in any living space. A 4K HDR HDMI input, eARC HDMI port and optical input ensure a quick and easy connection to all sources and to the TV. DTS Play-Fi, AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Bluetooth compatible, the Philips Fidelio TAFB1 soundbar can receive music wirelessly and be added to a multi-room group.
The Philips Fidelio TAFW1 wireless subwoofer features a 7.9″ driver and two passive radiators to deliver powerful, deep and realistic bass. Its digital amplification of 210 watts RMS ensures total immersion with intense sensations during action scenes.
Panasonic: OLED for home theater
The three Panasonic LZ2000, Panasonic LZ1500 and Panasonic LZ1000 OLED TV ranges were present at PAVS 2022, allowing visitors to measure the exceptional picture quality offered by these new generation Panasonic TVs.
Flagship of the 2022 Panasonic OLED TV range, the Panasonic TX-65LZ2000E enjoyed its own showroom to demonstrate its image and sound quality. This TV with a 164cm diagonal Master OLED Pro panel is calibrated by professional colorists. It is therefore optimized to offer high brightness (Luminance Booster) and infinite contrast. This allows for an ideal display of HDR10+ and Dolby Vision content, as we saw with the 4K Blu-ray of Top Gun: Maverick in Dolby Vision.
The sound is great thanks to the integrated Dolby Atmos soundbar designed by Technics. The latter is accompanied by two drivers placed on either side of the screen for surround effects, as well as two up-firing drivers that diffuse vertical sound effects.
The Panasonic TX-65LZ2000E also sat next to the Panasonic TX-65LZ1500E and Panasonic TX-55LZ1000E, allowing curious visitors to compare their performance in real time. Players could even take a few laps around the track in a race car to test the game mode of the Panasonic TX-55LZ1000E.
Perfect for home theater use, these Panasonic OLED TVs ensure a very accurate picture with movies and TV series as well as perfectly calibrated colorimetry right out of the box. The infinite contrast ratio enabled by the intense black of OLED ensures the best display conditions for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content. Finally, the 4K 120Hz compatible HDMI 2.1, ALLM and AMD FreeSync Premium ports will satisfy those who enjoy playing video games on a big screen.
TCL: 4K QLED and 144Hz Mini LED TV, new soundbars
Ranking third in the global TV market behind Samsung and LG, TCL presented its main QLED TV ranges at the Paris Audio Video Show. Visitors to the show could see several models from the TCL C731 range.
Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ compatibility, Google TV with voice assistant and Chromecast, streaming services and Google Play Store are combined in TV screens ranging from 139cm (55″) to 249cm (98″) to deliver superb picture quality and seamless usability. The TCL C731 series also offers an optimal gaming experience thanks to its very high refresh rate (144Hz on PC) via its HDMI 2.1 ports which are ALLM, VRR and AMD Freesync Premium compatible.
The TCL C931 premium range was also present on the stand with the beautiful 109cm TCL 75C931. TCL C931 TVs adopt the 4th generation of Mini-LED OD5 backlighting to eliminate any risk of blooming on the screen. The latest HDR formats are supported to display detailed, bright and high-contrast images.
The audio section is designed by Onkyo, featuring a dedicated woofer and vertical drivers. Viewers can enjoy a highly immersive Dolby Atmos sound experience. Like the TCL C731 series, the TCL C931 4K HDR TV series offers a high refresh rate for the best gaming experience (up to 144Hz on PC). ALLM, VRR, Freesync Premium and the TCL game bar menu are also included.
Soundbars were also in the spotlight at the stand of the Chinese manufacturer, who can count on new models to strengthen its catalog. After the TCL Ray-Danz soundbar, the brand presented to the French public the TCL C935U and the TCL X937U models unveiled in Berlin last September.
The first is a 5.1.2 channel model that uses Ray Danz technology, with acoustic reflectors. The latter provides an extensive distribution of surround effects to increase the amplitude of the sound image. The TCL C935U supports Dolby Atmos and DTS audio tracks and is also DTS Play-Fi compatible.
The TCL X937U soundbar works across 7.1.4 channels and also benefits from Ray Danz technology. It comes with a pair of wireless surround speakers with a rear surround effects driver and a vertical effects driver. These soundbars are both accompanied by a wireless subwoofer.
Samsung: Neo QLED, The Frame, The Serif, The Sero
During the 2022 Paris Audio Video Show, Korean manufacturer Samsung presented its Lifestyle collection. The range includes televisions and projectors designed to blend in with all interiors and to easily adapt to viewers’ needs.
Designed by French designers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, The Serif is much more than a TV, it is a true design object. Available in two colors, white and blue-gray, it adopts a matte LCD panel to eliminate reflections. Samsung The Serif TVs are equipped with 4K 120Hz compatible HDMI ports for video games (50/60Hz on the 43″ and 50″ models). USB, WiFi and Bluetooth complete the picture, along with a 40-watt stereo audio section and a host of connected features, including Apple AirPlay 2 compatibility.
For their part, Samsung The Frame 4K UHD TVs are designed to be hung on the wall like a painting (extra-flat wall mount included) and blend in with your decor thanks to their invisible connection and customizable frame. The Samsung The Frame 2022 televisions also introduce an all-new high-performance matte anti-reflection filter that turns the screen into a work of art without any unwanted glare. The connections of these Samsung 4K TVs are placed in an external box called One Connect, connected by a single cable to the screen.
Very discreetly installed under the screen of the Samsung The Frame TV in demonstration, the Samsung HW-S801B soundbar and its wireless subwoofer offered beautifully extensive sound, surprising for such a compact audio system. The 330 watts of this 3.1.2-channel soundbar are particularly well utilized to reproduce Dolby Atmos and DTS:X tracks very effectively.
This soundbar connects easily to the TV via HDMI eARC or wirelessly thanks to Q-Symphony 2 technology. Finally, the Samsung HW-S801B soundbar can also receive music wirelessly from a smartphone or computer, using AirPlay 2, Chromecast or Bluetooth.
Right next to the latter, visitors could discover the Samsung The Sero, a unique 108cm model whose motorized screen can rotate to switch from landscape to portrait mode! This 4K Ultra HD Samsung TV is the perfect partner to enjoy a smartphone screen as big as a TV. You can view all your content with a full vertical screen.
The Samsung The Sero is compatible with Google, Bixby and Amazon’s Alexa voice assistants. Plus, thanks to the AirPlay 2 protocol, all your content can be streamed wirelessly to the TV! Finally, this Samsung model benefits from an integrated 4.1 channel audio system with 60 watts of amplification for an immersive sound experience.
At the show, the latter was associated with the Samsung HW-Q990B soundbar, an 11.1.4 channel model. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatible, this soundbar comes with a wireless subwoofer and a pair of surround speakers with built-in Atmos drivers. You can enjoy soundtracks with a particularly immersive sound.
Last but not least, technology enthusiasts were able to marvel at the very large picture displayed by a superb 2.5m Samsung Micro LED TV. Intense colors, brightness and exceptional contrast characterize this display technology that could quickly become the future of television.
