Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition
One of the biggest releases of the year, Pink Floyd’s essential album is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This masterpiece is one of the first concept albums in music history, telling a coherent and immersive story from beginning to end, with themes such as life, death, madness and the search for truth. It has influenced many other artists and pioneered the use of advanced recording techniques, with complex sound effects, tape loops and synthesizers, to create a unique sonic atmosphere.
To celebrate this anniversary, Warner Music has unveiled Pink Floyd’sThe Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set! This limited edition includes the 2023 James Guthrie remastered version on CD and vinyl. There is also a Blu-ray and an audio DVD containing the 5.1 mix and the 24 bit/192kHz HD stereo masters, as well as a second Blu-ray including the Atmos mix. The Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon Live at Wembley 1974 album in vinyl and CD format completes the set.

A true deluxe box set, this edition includes a 160-page book, designed by photographer Jill Furmanovsky with the participation of the band members, which contains rare and unpublished photographs taken on stage between 1972 and 1975. Also included is the original 76-page Song Book, a facsimile of the invitation to the London Planetarium listening party in February 1973, and two 45T replicas of the singles “Money” and “Us and Them”.
Motörhead – Seriously Bad Magic
The godfathers of heavy metal are also making news this month with the reissue of their much-loved 23rd studio album, released in 2015, entitled Seriously Bad Magic. This version includes two previously unreleased songs recorded during the Furious Session tour, called “Bullet in Your Brain” and “Greedy Bastards,” as well as a live performance from that same tour at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan in 2015.
Even better, the Motörhead – Seriously Bad Magic box set is also available on Son-Vidéo.com. The latter features not only the tracks present in the original album, but also an audio interview with Lemmy, conducted by Motörhead expert Robert Kiewik, during the “War, Love, Death and Injustice” tour. Gorillaz – Cracker Island
Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett continue their creative collaboration with Gorillaz’ eighth studio album, entitled Cracker Island. Available on 33T vinyl, this project includes 10 energetic and upbeat tracks featuring a roster of notable collaborators such as Thundercat, Tame Impala, Bad Bunny, Stevie Nicks, Adeleye Omotayo, Bootie Brown and Beck.
Recorded in London and Los Angeles, the album is produced by Gorillaz, Remi Kabaka jr. and multi-award winning producer Greg Kurstin. A real hit, Cracker Island has received mostly positive reviews, becoming the first Gorillaz album to reach number one on the UK Albums Chart since Demon Days in 2005.
Claude François – French Disco Icon
2023 is the 45th anniversary of Claude François’ album Magnolias for Ever. To celebrate this event, travel back to the 70s with the new French Disco Icon compilation album!
Only 2000 copies of this edition were made, and it includes two white vinyl records with 8 original Claude François hits, such as “Alexandrie Alexandra”, “Je vais à Rio” and “Cette année-là”. It also includes five remixes of the hit “Magnolias for Ever” made in 2022 by different artists.
P!nk – Trustfall
Following the release of Hurts 2B Human in 2019, P!nk returns with her ninth studio album titled Trustfall. The album was introduced by the release of the single “Never Gonna Not Dance Again,” a pop track produced by Grammy Award winners Max Martin and Shellback. The singer also worked on the production and lyrics with Fred Again, David Hodges and Johnny McDaid.
The new album includes 13 tracks, three of which feature The Lumineers, Chris Stapleton and First Aid Kit. Already a success, Trustfall debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart and #2 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.
Alexandre Desplat – Tirailleurs (soundtrack)
In addition to listening to a new album, vinyls also allow you to immerse yourself in the world of a movie or a series. An example is the Tirailleurs soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat, released in 33T vinyl format. Rediscover the poignant atmosphere of the movie that opened the “Un Certain Regard” selection of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
The feature film Tirailleurs is a project co-produced by Omar Sy. He plays a young Senegalese father who joins the French army in 1917 to save his son who has been forcibly enlisted. The composer was able to reinforce the tension in the trenches and on the battlefield, but also the sadness of the loss of life. In addition, the piano notes create a solemn atmosphere reminiscent of the medal ceremony.
Justin Hurwitz – Babylon (soundtrack)
We end this selection of the month’s best vinyl releases with a real masterpiece: the soundtrack of the movie Babylon by Justin Hurwitz on double LP (180 grams). This 42-track compilation has already won the award for Best Film Score at the 2023 Golden Globes.
