Daft Punk share a new song: “The Writing of Fragments in Time”

Good news for fans who were saddened by the legendary duo’s separation in 2021: Daft Punk have just shared a previously unreleased track, called “The Writing of Fragments in Time”!

Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, a.k.a. Daft Punk, have just shared a track from a new reissue of Random Access Memories.

The first track from the special 10th anniversary edition of the album Random Access Memories, “The Writing of Fragments in Time” is a documentary track that explores the writing and recording of “Fragments of Time”, a collaboration between Daft Punk and Todd Edwards.

According to the press release accompanying the announcement of the song’s release, it is a nod to Daft Punk’s track “Giorgio by Moroder”, in which the legendary Italian musician and composer talks about his creative process and his rise to fame. “The Writing of Fragments in Time” was recorded at the legendary Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles on February 29, 2012. During more than eight minutes, Thomas Bangalter and house icon Todd Edwards produce the track and put together a few lines for the second verse.

Random Access Memories – 10th Anniversary Edition also includes is a first take of “Get Lucky”, the song written with Nile Rodgers, studio recordings of “Give Life Back to Music”, unreleased demos of “Prime” and “Infinity Repeating”, as well as vocoder tests for “Lose Yourself to Dance” and “Touch”. This reissue will be available in LP and CD formats, as well as streaming and download. In addition, the record will be mixed in Dolby Atmos for the first time. It will most likely be available on Apple Music and Amazon Music.

The special 10th anniversary reissue of Random Access Memories will be released on May 12th. The vinyl version is already available for pre-order on Son-Vidéo.com.

But that’s not all for the fans of the electro duo. On April 7, Thomas Bangalter will release the album Mythologies, his first solo work since Daft Punk’s split in February 2021. Mythologies is a composition for orchestra, created following a request from choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for his ballet of the same name. The 3LP version of this album is also available to pre-order on Son-Vidéo.com.
