What new Samsung TVs will be arriving in 2024? We were invited to discover them at the Korean manufacturer’s Paris headquarters.
Samsung has just unveiled its new 2024 TVs! On the menu are Premium Mini-LED 8K TVs, OLED 4K and (QD) OLED Premium 4K, as well as very large Mini-LED 4K TVs measuring up to 98″ (249cm) across!
Samsung QN900D: 8K Mini-LED as standard-bearer
Successor to the Samsung QN900C range, the new Samsung QN900D 8K TV series comes in three sizes: 65″ (163cm), 75″ (189cm) and 85″ (214cm). As seductive as ever, with its ultra-thin Infinty bezel, the design of these premium Samsung TVs has become slimmer, with a thickness of just 1.2cm, compared to 1.5cm for the previous generation.
The Samsung QN900D range also introduces a new remote connector box. Even more compact, it fits more snugly into the new base.
Since native 8K content is still a long way off, these TVs need to provide content upscaling. To achieve this, the manufacturer has equipped its Samsung QN900D TVs with a new generation video processor with Artificial Intelligence. Called the NQ8 AI Gen 3 Processor, this ultra-powerful model boasts 512 neural networks, eight times more than the previous generation. These work twice as fast as the QN900C of 2023, and optimize the image of all sources. The result is a display quality close to native 8K, with perfect fluidity.
This Samsung QN900D range benefits from an LCD panel with QLED technology to intensify colors. Its Mini-LED backlighting optimizes contrast to enhance HDR10 and HDR10+ content. Its anti-glare filter is as effective as ever. 4K 144Hz gaming compatibility is standard, as is support for FreeSync Premium Pro, the Gaming Hub with direct access to gaming cloud services and the Game Bar for easy access to all gaming settings.
As for sound, there’s Dolby Atmos compatibility and Q Symphony technology. This enables the TV to be connected wirelessly (WiFi) to a compatible Samsung soundbar, for more effective distribution of Dolby Atmos sound. In this case, the soundbar drivers and TV speakers are coordinated and work together to enhance spatial imaging and volume.
Prices and availability
The Samsung QN900D TVs will go on sale in April, with prices announced at €4,999 for the 65″ (163cm), €6,999 for the 75″ (189cm) and €10,990 for the 85″ (214cm). Prices are subject to change.
Samsung OLED S90D: the range expands!
The Korean manufacturer is also updating its 2024 OLED TV ranges, with new picture sizes for the heart of the Samsung S90D range, which replaces the Samsung S90C series. In addition to the 55″ (139cm), 65″ (163cm) and 77″ (195cm) models that have been renewed, this range has been expanded with a 48″ (121cm) model, and topped off with a very large 83″ (210cm) model.
The manufacturer has equipped the range with a new NQ4 AI Gen 2 processor (Neural Quantum Processor) and claims to have improved brightness performance. Although Samsung has not released any information on this point, it is likely that the Samsung S90D TVs will feature a classic OLED (WOLED) panel.
The slim design of the panel is renewed, by with an all-new stand that is mounted without screws! It is also 144Hz 4K compatible for high-framerate gaming. On the sound side, there’s an integrated 2.1-channel, 40-watt audio system with Q-Symphony and Dolby Atmos compatibility.
Prices and availability
These Samsung S90D OLED TVs should be arriving very soon, with prices to be confirmed at €1,699 for the 48″/121cm, €1,999 for the 55″/139cm, €2,799 for the 65″/163cm, €3,999 for the 77″/195cm and €6,499 for the 83″/210cm. Prices are subject to change.
Samsung S95D: Premium OLED with super anti-glare treatment!
Praised by the trade press, the Samsung S95C series gives way to the Samsung S95D range. To simplify matters for the general public, the manufacturer no longer distinguishes between OLED and QD-OLED panels within its various ranges. The S90D and S95D are thus designated as OLED TVs, even if all the evidence suggests that this S95D series features a QD-OLED panel, like the range it replaces.
Samsung has announced a 20% gain in brightness on these new (QD) OLED S95D models. This should improve HDR rendering in the highlights, as well as the legibility of the darker parts of the image when viewed in a brightly lit room.
The other impressive new feature of the Samsung OLED S95D range is its new anti-glare coating. The main drawback of OLED panels is their tendency to reflect ambient light, with a veritable mirror effect when displaying dark images. This is now a thing of the past with this new generation of Samsung OLED TVs, which manage to eliminate reflections extremely effectively, without loss of brightness and without compromising viewing angles.
The NQ4 AI Gen 2 processor is also responsible for optimizing the display and sound of this TV, whose audio section is Q-Symphony and Dolby Atmos compatible. It features 60 watts of power distributed over 4.2.2 channels to maximize immersion for the audience.
Prices and availability
As with the Samsung S95C range, the Samsung S95D is available in three image sizes: 55″/139cm (€2,799), 65″/164cm (€3,699) and 77″/195cm (€4,999). They should be available in the coming weeks (prices subject to change).
Mini-LED 4K: Samsung QN85D and QN90D
Unsurprisingly, the Samsung QN85D and QN90D 4K Mini-LED TV ranges are the successors to the Samsung QN85C and Samsung QN90C series.
QLED and Mini-LED are combined to offer intense colors combined with high brightness and contrast, optimized by next-generation Quantum Matrix technology. Samsung has not announced figures, but does say that, compared with the QN85D range, the QN90D series offers more brightness, better contrast, finer and more precise backlight zoning, and a more effective anti-glare filter. The QN90D range is also 144Hz 4K compatible.
Prices and availability
The Samsung QN85D range arrives in April and comes in four picture sizes: 55″/139cm (€1,499), 65″/163cm (€1,999), 75″/189cm (€2,799) and 85″/214cm (€3,999). Prices are subject to change.
The Samsung QN90D range is available in seven screen sizes: 43″/108cm (€1,399), 50″/126cm (€1,599), 55″/139cm (€1,799), 65″/163cm (€2,499), 75″/189cm (€3,399), 85″/214cm (€5,499) and 98″/248cm (€9,999). They will be on sale shortly (prices subject to change).
2024 Samsung QLED TV ranges
More affordable, the Samsung Q64D TVs, replacing the Samsung Q60C and Samsung Q65C ranges, take advantage of QLED technology to display rich, nuanced colors. There’s HDR10+ compatibility and the Quantum Processor Lite 4K processor, as well as Dual LED backlighting that adapts color temperature to enhance the realism of the images displayed.
These Samsung Q64D TVs can also access the majority of streaming offers such as Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ and Prime Video. They also feature the Samsung Gaming Hub interface for easy access to multiple cloud gaming services. So you can play directly from your TV, without a game console or computer, just with a video game controller. Last but not least, the two feet of each model can be adjusted in width and height, making it easier to place a soundbar under the screen.
Prices and availability
This new Samsung Q64D range should come in six image sizes, from 43″/108cm to 85″/215cm. Prices will be announced shortly.
New features shared by all ranges
With a view to gradually reducing its ecological footprint, Samsung is working on a number of areas to achieve this. The design of 2024 Samsung TVs, for example, uses 50% recycled materials, not only for the plastics in the covers on the back of the screens, but also for the TV stands, which are made from recycled metal. These are now screwless, making them easier to install and reducing the number of parts in the package. Even the wedges inside cardboard boxes are more often made from recycled polystyrene. Last but not least, all 2024 Samsung TVs now come with a solar-powered remote control.
As for the interface, Tizen benefits from a new aesthetic and now offers the creation of five different customizable user accounts. Each member of the family can design the home menu and gaming hub to suit their needs, with shortcuts to streaming services and favorite games.
The Cloud Gaming offer has also been expanded with the addition of the Amazon Luna platform, while the Gamebar offers even more functions, including automatic detection of game type for immediate adoption of the best settings.
