Our expert’s opinion

With the S100 65", Dreame has created a versatile and impressive television for its first foray into the TV market. During this review, I particularly appreciated the rich colors and the vivid picture, which effectively enhance HDR content, animated films, and sporting events. The 4K resolution also ensures excellent detail in textures and backgrounds, while smooth motion is clearly one of this model’s strengths. Whether watching movies, sports broadcasts, or playing video games, motion remains crisp and easy to follow.
The gaming experience is also very satisfying. ALLM mode immediately detects the console, and the TV’s overall responsiveness contributes to an immersive experience on the PS5. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the built-in audio system. The surround sound works effectively, and the bass is sufficiently present to enjoy movies and TV shows without immediately feeling the need to add a soundbar.
However, the Dreame S100 65" does show some limitations, particularly in terms of black depth, backlight uniformity, and glare management in brightly lit rooms. Despite this, this first Dreame TV looks promising. The brand is laying a solid foundation here and hints at very interesting potential for its future generations of TVs.

Test conditions

I tested the Dreame S100 65” in the large auditorium at the Son-Vidéo store in Nantes, using a Sony PlayStation 5 console as the main source, connected to the TV via an AudioQuest Pearl 48 HDMI cable. Both devices were powered by an AudioQuest PowerQuest 303 power strip, which provided them with stabilized and filtered power. The TV used an Ethernet cable connection to access catch-up TV and streaming services in the best possible conditions.

Once the stand is installed, plug in the TV, pair the remote via Bluetooth, and you’re ready to start setting up Google TV.

📝 Expert tips
Since this Dreame TV has a fairly bright screen, it’s best to minimize ambient light in the line of sight of the screen—especially behind viewers—to avoid unwanted glare. If the room is very bright (with a large bay window, for example) and has very light-colored walls, don’t hesitate to draw the curtains to reduce light pollution.

My impressions

A simple, modern look

The Dreame S100 65” features a slim black bezel, accented at the bottom by a gold trim. The discreet screen blends into the background, letting the picture take center stage. The wide black plastic stand also features a gold trim and ensures the TV remains perfectly stable.

Design of the Dreame S100 65" TV, viewed from the right at a 3/4 angle
The minimalist design of the Dreame S100 65” is intended to make the screen disappear, allowing the displayed image to take center stage.

Viewed from the side, the chassis has a slight bulge at the bottom. This indicates the presence of a built-in soundbar beneath the screen—which is invisible from the front—to minimize the TV’s visual footprint. The two grilles at the top house the Atmos drivers, while two surround drivers for left and right effects are positioned at the bottom on the sides.

The base of the Dreame S100 65” features a built-in soundbar, which explains its slight bulge.

Overall, the construction is sturdy and features a good finish.

Comprehensive connectivity

Connectors on the Dreame S100 65" TV
The Dreame S100 65” features all the essential connectivity options needed to enjoy all current content sources, including three HDMI 2.1 ports compatible with 144Hz 4K.

Aside from the power connector, which is located on the lower left side of the screen, all of the ports on this Dreame 4K TV are located on the lower right side. The ports face sideways, which means you’ll need cables that are long enough to be bent and routed to the back of the TV.

From top to bottom, there are:

  • a pair of analog mini-jack audio-video connectors,
  • a satellite antenna jack
  • a DTTV antenna connector
  • two USB ports
  • three HDMI 2.1 ports
  • an optical audio output
  • an Ethernet port

It’s a shame that the back of the TV doesn’t have any kind of cable management system!

As for the downsides, unfortunately this TV doesn’t offer a way to route and organize the various cables behind the screen.

An effective remote control

The two-tone (black and silver) remote control for the Dreame S100 65″ TV features a sleek, well-rounded design and is comfortable to hold thanks to its elongated shape. Direct access to major streaming platforms makes it easy to use every day, while the built-in microphone enables voice control via Google Assistant.

With Bluetooth compatibility, you don’t need to point it directly at the TV to navigate menus or control content playback. It’s just a shame that the buttons aren’t backlit.

Smooth and intuitive Google TV

This 65-inch Dreame S100 TV features the Google TV interface, which centralizes content from major streaming platforms into a clear and intuitive environment. The home screen highlights personalized recommendations, apps, and recently viewed content to make it easier to access your favorite shows.

A spectacular image

The Dreame S100 65″ delivers a particularly striking picture, with a rich and intense color reproduction that effectively showcases HDR content, animated films, and sporting events. In Standard picture mode, colors are beautifully saturated, contributing to a vibrant and enjoyable viewing experience for everyday use. In Filmmaker mode, the color reproduction more closely matches cinematic standards, with softer, more nuanced hues.

Compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG, the Dreame S100 65″ TV effectively adapts its picture quality to different HDR content. During this test, the aerial scenes in Top Gun: Maverick were rendered with a particularly bright and spectacular picture, while the highly stylized colors in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse gained in intensity and richness. With The Last of Us, the TV delivered natural colors and created a compelling atmosphere, particularly in the abandoned urban environments and low-light scenes, which effectively enhanced immersion in the series.

The 4K resolution also ensures an excellent level of precision, with impressive sharpness in textures, faces, and backgrounds. Ultra HD content is rendered in great detail, while lower-quality programs are upscaled to a generally satisfactory level.

However, this 2026 TV does have some limitations. The lack of an effective anti-glare treatment means it’s best used in a dimly lit room to minimize reflections on the screen. In addition, the uniformity of the backlighting could be improved, as there are slight variations that are mainly noticeable on dark, solid areas of color but are hardly visible when watching everyday programs. Finally, blacks sometimes lack depth in nighttime or high-contrast scenes, which can slightly reduce the cinematic impact of the most demanding content.

Settings to optimize the picture

To get the most out of the Dreame S100 65″ TV, making a few adjustments to the picture settings can help achieve a more natural and consistent image. For movies and TV shows, I recommend using Filmmaker mode combined with a warm color temperature to achieve a more balanced and realistic picture. Slightly reducing the backlight intensity in a dark environment also helps minimize the visibility of uniformity issues and improves the perception of black tones.

Picture mode: Filmmaker
Color temperature: warm
Sharpness: low or medium
Noise Reduction: off with high-quality 4K sources
Motion Interpolation: low or custom
Dynamic contrast: low or off
Adaptive backlight / Local dimming: medium
Backlight brightness: moderate in a dark room

For daily TV shows, news reports, documentaries, and talk shows, the standard mode is a good choice, offering smooth motion and vivid colors.

A compelling gaming experience

The Dreame S100 65″ TV delivers an impressive experience with the PS5, thanks in part to its support for ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), which automatically detects the console and instantly switches to a mode optimized for gaming.

While playing Gran Turismo 7, the TV responded quickly and displayed excellent smoothness during fast-paced driving sequences. The sense of speed was well conveyed, and the action remains easy to follow, even during fast turns or highly dynamic sequences.

The responsiveness of the controls also contributes to the gaming experience, with actions that seem to perfectly match the inputs from the controller’s buttons. This makes the experience more immersive, whether for racing games or more fast-paced titles that require precise display.

Rich, immersive sound

This Dreame TV features a particularly impressive audio system, with a 4.1.2-channel setup comprising a total of 11 drivers, powered by a 70 W amplifier. The system supports Dolby Atmos and features two up-firing drivers designed to enhance vertical effects and audio immersion. In addition, drivers dedicated to lateral effects are located on the sides of the TV, mounted within an acoustic horn to ensure better sound dispersion. Finally, low-frequency reproduction is handled by a dedicated driver located on the back of the screen.

In practice, this TV’s audio performance is very impressive for movies, TV shows, and video games alike. Dialogue remains clear, with well-centered and easily intelligible voices, even during fast-paced action scenes. The lateral sound staging works effectively and manages to create a soundstage with impressive breadth. Vertical Dolby Atmos effects are also noticeable, adding a welcome sense of immersion to certain soundtracks. Finally, the bass is sufficiently present to allow you to comfortably enjoy content without needing to purchase an external soundbar.

The TCL 65C8K is a bit more ambitious when it comes to home theater performance, with better contrast, deeper blacks, and more precise backlight control, making it better suited for demanding movies and TV shows.
