With the JMGO IRIS Ultra Max projector, 4K video projection reaches a major milestone by displaying a 4K image at 120Hz, a feature never before seen in DLP-based models. This high refresh rate is designed to enhance the smoothness of video games, sports broadcasts, and, more broadly, content featuring rapid movement. JMGO combines this technology with a MALC 6.0 triple-laser light source, delivering a brightness of up to 6,500 ISO lumens and a native contrast ratio of up to 10,000:1. Unveiled at IFA 2026, the IRIS Ultra Max is shaping up to be a serious contender against Hisense and Xgimi lifestyle projectors.
JMGO IRIS Ultra Max: 120Hz 4K for gaming, sports, and movies
The IRIS Ultra Max’s key feature is its ability to display a 4K image at 120Hz. This refresh rate corresponds to 120 frames per second and is designed to improve the smoothness of fast-moving images. To achieve this, JMGO relies on a unique dual-DLPC controller architecture, combined with its HyperPulse actuator, capable of performing 480 movements per second (480 Hz). This technology allows the pixels in the matrix to be shifted very quickly to successively reproduce all the pixels of 4K images on the screen through emulation. It does this so quickly that the viewer does not perceive the effect and sees a true 120Hz 4K image.
Equipped to appeal to gamers, this projector supports VRR, which adjusts the refresh rate based on the incoming signal, as well as ALLM, which automatically optimizes settings to reduce display latency. As a result, the JMGO IRIS Ultra Max enables 4K gaming at up to 120 frames per second. It also supports Dolby Vision in 4K at 120Hz.
For movies and sports broadcasts, JMGO incorporates 120Hz 4K MEMC processing. This interpolation technology is designed to maintain the sharpness of camera movements, fast-paced action, and ball trajectories. Finally, an Anti-RBE feature also mitigates the rainbow effects that may occur with DLP projection technology for some viewers. This feature proved particularly effective during our visit to the manufacturer’s booth.
MALC 6.0 triple laser, up to 6,500 ISO lumens
This new JMGO projector uses the MALC 6.0 triple-laser engine, with a claimed brightness of 6,500 ISO lumens. This allows the manufacturer to also market this model for use in rooms with ambient light.
The IRIS Ultra Max achieves a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1 thanks to its Dual Iris system, which consists of 15 blades arranged in a 6+9 configuration. Six adjustment levels allow you to tailor brightness and contrast to the content as well as to projection conditions. JMGO AI DBL technology, meanwhile, acts on different areas of the image to enhance detail reproduction in dark scenes and preserve skin tone accuracy.
JMGO also reports 110% coverage of the BT.2020 color space for this model, with excellent color accuracy (ΔE of approximately 0.7, according to the manufacturer). The closer this Delta E value is to zero, the smaller the difference between the intended color and the displayed color.
Flexible installation thanks to zoom and lens shift
The IRIS Ultra Max combines three features designed to simplify installation. Its optical zoom covers a throw ratio of 0.88 to 1.7:1. It also features a four-way optical lens shift, with a vertical range of ±130% and a horizontal range of ±53%. This lens shift optically moves the projected image, making it easier to position the projector relative to the screen without any loss of image quality.
The JMGO IRIS Ultra Max projector stand also features an AI-powered motorized gimbal. This allows for 360° panoramic rotation and 150° tilt. The AI Screen Fitting feature automatically adjusts the image to the edges of the screen, while AI Spatial Image Memory saves projection positions and the apps associated with the different walls onto which content is projected (for example, Netflix in the living room and Disney+ in the kids’ room).
