To celebrate its 55th anniversary, Technics has released a new high-end and very limited edition version of the legendary SL-1200 turntable: the Technics SL-1210GAE. Following the Technics SL-1200 MK7 released in 2019, this direct drive model inherits the iconic design and technologies of Technics turntables. Limited to 1000 units, the Technics SL-1210GAE record player joins the SL-1200GLD and SL-1200LTD models in the category of highly sought-after limited edition anniversary record players.

Founded in Japan in 1965 by the company Matsushita for the sale of its high-end speakers, the brand ended up making a name for itself in the record player market in just a few years. After taking its first steps in the professional market, Technics started selling turntables to the general public in 1971. Technics primarily gained traction in New York City, and would eventually become an iconic brand. The Technics SL-1200 turntable was the deck of choice for the pioneers of the hip-hop and DJing movements in the early 70s. From that moment on, the Technics SL-1200 turntable became inherent to this cultural and musical movement. The Technics SL-1210GAE turntable has inherited the technologies used in the brand’s flagship decks and combines them with state-of-the-art anti-vibration materials and solutions. The chassis is made of brushed aluminum, BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound) and rubber. The four rubber feet benefit from the Alphagel technology already used for the Technics SL-1200G and SL-1200GR turntables.
The iconic strobe system used to control the rotation stage of the platter can be deactivated on the SL-1210GAE turntable so that you can concentrate exclusively on the music without being distracted by the light and without the latter affecting the mood.

For the record player’s cartridge, Technics has worked with Nagaoka to develop the JT-1210. This moving magnet model equipped with an elliptical stylus and mounted on a boron cantilever has been specifically designed to provide optimal performance with the Technics SL-1210GAE turntable.

Technics is celebrating its 55th anniversary with great fanfare by releasing a new high-end version of its iconic SL-1200 turntable. A gift for Technics fans, but also for the brand, who have paid tribute to an essential part of their history that also influenced the history of music.
