There is news from JVC with three new 8K 60Hz/4K 120Hz home theater projectors equipped with a laser light source and compatible with HDR10+/HDR10 and HLG. They are the first consumer home theater projectors in the world to offer 8K HDMI inputs at 48 Gbps! The new JVC DLA-NZ9 (€24,999), JVC DLA-NZ8 (€14,999) and JVC DLA-NZ7 (€9,999) 4K/8K laser projectors therefore support 8K60p and 4K120p streams.
JVC DLA-NZ9
The JVC DLA-NZ9 high-end 4K/8K projector has a very high brightness (3000 lumens), is equipped with a high-quality 100mm diameter glass lens, very high contrast optics (native contrast of 100,000: 1) and 8K/e-shiftX technology to display native 8K streams and to upscale 4K streams to UHD 8K.
- 8K60p/4K120p HDMI input with 8K/e-shiftX
- 100mm high resolution glass lenses
- BLU-Escent laser lamp: 3000 lm
- Native contrast of 100,000:1
- HDR10 +/Frame Adapt HDR/HLG
- Wide color gamut (100% DCI-P3)
- ISFccc certification

JVC DLA-NZ8
The JVC DLA-NZ8 4K/8K projector incorporates most of the same features as the JVC DLA-NZ9, but with a 65mm diameter glass lens, as well as lower brightness and contrast (2,500 lumens/80,000:1).

- 8K60p/4K120p HDMI input with 8K/e-shiftX
- 65mm high resolution glass lens
- BLU-Escent laser lamp: 2,500 lm
- Native contrast of 80,000:1
- HDR10 +/Frame Adapt HDR/HLG
- Wide color gamut (100% DCI-P3)
- ISFccc certification

JVC DLA-NZ7
The JVC DLA-NZ7 4K/8K projector also has a laser light source (2200 lumens, 40,000:1 contrast), a 65mm lens, 48 Gbps/8K60p compatible HDMI connectors and 8K/e-shift technology.
- HDMI 8K60p/4K120p input with 8K/e-shift
- 65mm high resolution glass lens
- BLU-Escent laser lamp: 2200 lm

8K/e-shiftX technology
Thanks to a new LSI chip (matrix control) which now operates at 240Hz, the Japanese manufacturer has been able to develop its exclusive 8K/e-shift image interpolation technology. This new version called 8K/e-shiftX which equips the NZ9 and the NZ8 offers a resolution even closer to native 8K with a pixel shift in four directions rather than two, as was the case in the previous version (which equips the JVC DLA-NZ7).

Blu-Escent laser lamp
The BLU-Escent laser technology used in the 2021 JVC 4K/8K projectors uses a blue colored laser diode as the light source. In addition to offering a lifespan of 20,000 hours, it guarantees a very high brightness which allows these JVC projectors to display very large images (up to 5m in diagonal for the JVC NZ7 and JVC NZ8 and up to 7.6m in diagonal for the JVC NZ9) and offer very high brightness peaks with HDR content.

In addition, this laser diode offers the possibility of instantly controlling the light output, allowing for dynamic brightness adjustment that is much more responsive than with a conventional mechanical dynamic iris system. By adjusting the laser light output according to the brightness of the video scene, the JVC DLA-NZ7, JVC DLA-NZ8 and JVC DLA-NZ9 projectors can project images with light levels closer to those perceived by humans, with virtually infinite contrast.
Glass optics
The JVC DLA-NZ7, JVC DLA-NZ8 and JVC DLA-NZ9 UHD 4K/8K projectors each adopt a lens consisting of glass elements mounted in an aluminum barrel. These lenses, 100mm in diameter for the NZ9 and 65mm in diameter for the NZ8 and NZ7, optimize the flow of light while ensuring excellent sharpness and optimal display quality. The JVC DLA-NZ9’s 100mm lens incorporates five low-dispersion lenses that take into account differences in RGB refractive index to reduce chromatic error and color fringing when the optical shift kicks in, allowing images of up to 8K resolution to be reproduced with great accuracy, even when the projector is not placed exactly on axis with the screen.

HDR10+, Frame Adapt HDR
Compatible with HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, the JVC DLA-NZ7, JVC DLA-NZ8 and JVC DLA-NZ9 projectors feature Frame Adapt HDR technology to get the most out of high dynamic range (HDR) content. This technology, which performs dynamic tone mapping of the incoming video stream, frame by frame or scene by scene, is combined with Theater Optimizer technology, which in turn automatically performs optimal tone mapping according to the installation environment. This dual processing eliminates the effects of tonal gradation in both bright and dark areas to smooth the transitions between different light ranges in the image. Together, these two JVC-exclusive features allow you to enjoy sharper, more detailed images without any posterization on the screen.
