Adam Audio has been active in the studio monitor market since 1999. Over the years, the German manufacturer has built up an excellent reputation in the professional sector. Founded by sound engineer Roland Stenz and entrepreneur Klaus Heinz, the brand is present in many professional sound studios. The German manufacturer has won over both the music industry and home-studio enthusiasts. Their comprehensive ranges offer monitors for most applications.

Adam Audio: an innovative brand

Adam Audio stands out for its ability to offer innovative active speakers. For many years, Adam Audio engineers have brought their expertise to professional sound studios through technologies such as the ART (Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter. A solution based on the AMT (Air Motion Transformer) invented by Dr. Oskar Heil in the 60s, for precise, detailed high frequencies.

The HPS (High-Frequency Propagation System) waveguide accompanying this innovative tweeter provides a large, targeted and perfectly controlled listening area for high frequencies. The concept goes even further with the A-Series, since it is possible to physically change its direction. Horizontally, the sound will cover a fairly wide area, whereas vertically, the zone will be much narrower. A way of adapting monitor speakers to all studios, professional or at home.

Adam Audio active monitors are equipped with ART tweeters. These drivers offer excellent fidelity, as well as a wide, comfortable listening area.

The woofers also benefit from ELE (Extended Linear Excursion) technology, guaranteeing a precise sound reproduction at high resolution. A system designed to reduce unwanted resonance and distortion. Even at a comfortable volume, these woofers deliver a consistently faithful sound for precise listening. This process contributes to the very wide frequency response of the S Series speakers.

Adam Audio also offers software solutions to configure some of its active monitors. S Series monitors can be controlled with the “S Control” software via a USB cable. From a Mac or PC, you can update speaker firmware, modify the parametric equalizer and adjust room compensation.

As for the A Series, it allows speakers to be networked. This way, they can be controlled remotely with the “A Control” software, which provides six parametric equalization bands as well as low and high-frequency shelf filters. Compatibility with SoundID Reference allows you to use parameters exported from the Sonarworks software.

Adam Audio: several monitor ranges

Adam Audio T Series

The T series is the German manufacturer’s most recent range. It’s more affordable, but still boasts some very interesting features. The Adam Audio T5V, Adam Audio T7V and Adam Audio T8V monitors offer low frequency responses of 45Hz, 39Hz and 33Hz respectively. These three professional amplified speakers deliver high frequencies reaching 25kHz. With power ratings ranging from 70 to 90 watts, these monitor speakers are ideal for small professional studios and home studios.

This range is accompanied by the Adam Audio T10S subwoofer. It’s a perfect match for T Series active speakers. Although it can be used in other configurations, it’s the ideal companion for the T5V, T7V and T8V. It extends the bass frequency response down to 28Hz. The T Series offers a comprehensive, affordable solution.

Adam Audio A Series

Designed for small and medium-sized studios, Adam Audio’s A Series active speakers are compact in design. However, their performance remains ideal for professional use. The range comprises five different monitors.

“A Control” software is available to fine-tune any A Series speaker. The advanced mode lets you select a specific frequency, Q factor and gain for six parametric equalization bands. Low Cut, High Cut, Low Shelf, High Shelf and Bell filters can be selected and adjusted to suit the listener’s preferences.

The Adam Audio A4V and Adam Audio A44H monitors both deliver 130 watts of power, but differ in the number of woofers (one for the A4V and two for the A44H). This difference makes it possible to achieve a bass frequency response of 52Hz for the A4V and 46Hz for the A44H. The A4V speaker is designed for vertical use, and the A44H version for horizontal use.

The Adam Audio A7V vertical monitor features a slightly larger woofer, enabling it to reproduce a frequency response reaching 40Hz in the lows. The speaker is equipped with an amplifier capable of delivering 130 watts. Its horizontal version, the Adam Audio A77H speaker, features an additional woofer and a midrange driver. As a result, it can reproduce a frequency response down to 34Hz in the lows. Its amplifier can deliver up to 340 watts.

The Adam Audio A8H studio monitor is the no-compromise version of the range. It is available in left and right-hand versions. With its three channels, it reproduces a frequency response from 31Hz to 45kHz. The monitor’s amplifier is also capable of delivering 340 watts.

Adam Audio Sub

Although Adam Audio offers high-quality active speakers that reproduce very wide frequency responses, the German manufacturer goes one step further with its professional subwoofers. Their range includes subwoofers with drivers of various sizes. All these professional subwoofers feature an 85Hz high-pass filter to comply with the Dolby standard, as well as crossover adjustment.

The Adam Audio Sub8 amplifier develops 160 watts, and the driver reproduces a frequency response from 28Hz to 150Hz. It comes with a remote control capable of controlling output level and crossover. An ideal solution for small professional and home studios.

Offering 200 watts of power, the Adam Audio Sub10 Mk2 and Adam Audio Sub12 subwoofers are capable of reproducing a bass frequency response of 25Hz and 22Hz respectively. Both of these can reach 150Hz. They are ideal for smaller studios, but their ability to be daisy-chained means they can also be used in larger spaces. Our guide on this subject explains why you should use two subwoofers.

The amplifier of Adam Audio’s top-of-the-range Sub15 develops 1000 watts for high-level listening sessions. It reproduces a frequency response ranging from 20Hz to 150Hz. Clearly intended for professional studios and large home studios, this is a subwoofer offering power and precision. It is ideal for professionals and sound engineers.
