Q80D: midrange 2024 Samsung QLED TVs

A strong advocate for QLED technology for many years, Samsung is renewing its offer for 2024 with a successor to its 2023 Samsung Q80C midrange series.

These new Samsung Q80D UHD 4K televisions should be equipped with a very bright LCD QLED panel with Direct LED backlighting. We can expect full support for HDR10 formats, notably HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive and HDR10+ Gaming. Compatibility with video games in 120Hz 4K as well as the ALLM and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro features should also be available. Samsung may even surprise us by announcing 144Hz 4K compatibility…

Naturally, these TVs will have the connected features offered by the Samsung Tizen interface, with all streaming services and cloud gaming services in the gaming hub.

Sound-wise, we’re expecting a Dolby Atmos compatible audio system with virtual surround sound. It should also be possible to connect Samsung soundbars wirelessly, via WiFi, thanks to the Q-Symphony technology.

The new 2024 Samsung Q80D range should feature six screen sizes with the following references:

Which Samsung Neo QLED TVs for 2024?

As for the Samsung Neo QLED televisions, premium models with Mini LED backlighting, we can expect the Korean manufacturer to renew its 2023 series, notably the Samsung QN8C and Samsung QN90C ranges.

Unsurprisingly, the first will be replaced by the Samsung QN85D line, and the second by the Samsung QN90D range.

They should feature Quantum mini LED backlighting for high brightness and greater contrast to enhance the display of HDR10 content. The 4K/120Hz-compatible HDMI 2.1 inputs will almost certainly also support 4K in 144Hz on gaming PCs, at least for the Samsung QN90D range.

Which new Samsung OLED TVs for 2024?

Samsung’s OLED 2023 TVs impressed us, especially the Samsung S95C range, whose 55″ model we were able to test. Featuring a QD-OLED panel calibrated by professionals, particularly suited to home theater with its high brightness peaks, deep blacks and intense colors, this series also attracted gamers with its support for 4K up to 144Hz, HDR10+ Gaming and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology.

Replacing the excellent Samsung S95C televisions, the future Samsung S95D range should boost performance to oust competing TVs equipped with micro lens OLED panels.

Positioned immediately below the S95Cs in the manufacturer’s catalog, the 2023 Samsung OLED S90C range also offered excellent picture quality and won over many users and the trade press alike.

In 2024, Samsung is set to update these two premium OLED TV ranges with the new Samsung S90D and Samsung S95D ranges, each announced in three picture sizes (55″/138cm, 65″/163cm and 77″/195cm).

Improvements are expected in terms of peak brightness, to counter rival TVs with OLED Meta technology (LG OLED G3, Panasonic MZ2000 and Philips OLED908 ranges). Samsung should also stand out with its wide color coverage, gaming functions and Tizen user interface, one of the most comprehensive on the market.

While you’re waiting for the Korean manufacturer to unveil the price and availability of its new 2024 OLED TVs, check out the special offers on the Samsung S90C and Samsung S95C ranges!

As a buyer and seller of second-hand high-tech products for around ten years before joining Son-Vidéo.com in 2007, I had the opportunity to test a variety of amplifiers, speakers, headphones, TVs, projectors and DAPs... Passionate about films and series, music and new technologies, I'm particularly fond of the worlds of TV, video projection and home theater. I like to watch films with my family on the big screen, either at the movie theater or at home, but I also enjoy listening to music on a good hi-fi system, sat in a comfy armchair or on a walk with a pair of headphones.
