Denon has added to its range of AV receivers with the new Denon AVC-X6800H. This latest-generation model promises the ultimate experience with 11.4 channels, 175W per channel, support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro 3D, as well as UHD 8K and 4K HDR programs.
Immersive home theater
After Marantz and the Marantz Cinema 30, it’s now Denon’s turn to launch its 11.4-channel AV receiver with the new Denon AVC-X6800H. Successor to the Denon AVC-X6700H, this new-generation model bridges the gap between the Denon AVC-X4800H (9.4 channels) and the ultimate Denon AVC-A1H (15.4 channels). It supports the latest audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS:X Pro and Auro 3D, with the ability to reproduce them over up to 7.4.4 channels. Its 13.4-channel RCA pre-out section can even be used to create a 9.4.4-channel system by connecting a separate power amp.
DSP and acoustic calibration
The Denon AVC-X6800H AV receiver benefits from multiple processing systems and algorithms to optimize the reproduction of each program. Dolby Surround, DTS Neural:X and Auro-Matic upmixer technologies can diffuse stereo tracks to all the system’s speakers. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 acoustic correction has been retained to adapt the reproduction to the listening room and speakers, ensuring optimum immersion at all times. For even greater customization, the most experienced cinephiles can now turn to Dirac Live calibration, although this requires a fee-based license.
UHD 8K and 4K HDR
The seven HDMI inputs on the Denon AVC-X6800H receiver now meet the HDMI 2.1 standard for displaying UHD 8K programs at 60Hz and 4K programs at up to 120 fps. This enables it to exploit the full potential of the latest-generation sources, especially for gamers on PC, Xbox Series X or PS5, who benefit from a smoother display. Gamers will also be delighted by the VRR, ALLM and QFT protocols, which enhance the display and gaming experience. Last but not least, the most common HDR formats such as Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dynamic HDR are compatible with this receiver to correctly reproduce high dynamic range programs.
Full range of connectors and streaming
The Denon AVC-X6800H boasts an extensive range of connectors for centralizing all the sources in a modern audio/video installation. It has no fewer than seven HDMI 2.1 inputs and three outputs, including one eARC-compatible output for retrieving TV sound. In addition, four digital inputs (two optical and two coaxial) and eight analog RCA inputs enable connection of a wide range of audio sources, while the phono input is ideal for use with a turntable. Convenient Zone 2 and Zone 3 outputs let you connect one or more external amplifiers for other rooms, while four independent LFE outputs let you connect as many subwoofers. Each subwoofer can then be adjusted separately.
In addition to its comprehensive connectivity, the Denon AVC-X6800H also benefits from the many streaming options offered by the HEOS ecosystem. As a result, it’s possible to play DLNA tracks shared over the local network (up to 24-bit/192kHz and DSD), access web radios, as well as numerous streaming services such as Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music and Spotify. Finally, multi-room audio is possible with any Marantz or Denon equipment compatible with the HEOS system, but also with AirPlay 2-compatible devices.
