The Marshall Bromley 450 successfully captures the essence of the Bromley 750 in a more compact format that’s easier to use on a daily basis. As punchy as ever, it delivers a powerful, energetic sound capable of filling a dance floor without showing the slightest sign of weakness, even at very high volumes. The 360° True Stereophonic sound dispersion proves particularly effective, while the 40-hour battery life, rugged design, and comprehensive connectivity further enhance its versatility.
I also appreciated the attention to detail in its construction. With its wooden cabinet, brushed aluminum controls, and design inspired by Marshall amplifiers, the Bromley 450 clearly stands out from the many party speakers with more traditional finishes. However, there are a few areas that could use improvement, starting with a rather limited mobile app and lighting effects that lack customization options. These are minor flaws in light of the speaker’s many strengths, making it one of the most appealing options currently available in the compact party speaker segment.
Following the success of the Bromley 750, Marshall has released a more compact version of its party speaker: the Bromley 450. This new version retains the DNA of the high-end model, featuring a design inspired by Marshall guitar amps, light effects, powerful sound, and a 40-hour battery life. Priced at €649, this speaker promises an impressive party experience in a more portable package. Does it pose yet another threat to JBL, who until now has enjoyed the status of undisputed leader?
Introduction to the Marshall Bromley 450
The strength of Marshall’s design
That was already one of the Bromley 750’s greatest strengths: its design. Unsurprisingly, the Marshall Bromley 450 carries over this instantly recognizable visual identity, inspired by the British brand’s famous guitar amps. Unlike competing party speakers such as the JBL PartyBox or certain Sony models—which have a more understated, plastic design—the Bromley 450 boasts a more rock-and-roll aesthetic. This 2026 party speaker has a bold style and is designed to turn heads.
More compact than the Bromley 750—measuring 36.5 cm wide, 49 cm high, and 26 cm deep—this new version is also much easier to move around on a daily basis. It weighs just 12 kg, compared to 24 kg for the 750 model.
On the other hand, Marshall does away with the telescoping handle and rubber casters found on its larger counterpart. This is a bit of a shame, as these features would have made moving the speaker from one room to another in the house even easier and more spontaneous. Fortunately, the sturdy side handle provides a secure grip for easily adjusting the speaker’s position. In addition, there are four slots for attaching a strap.
The build quality remains impeccable. With its leather-like finish, metal grilles, aluminum controls, and overall construction, the Marshall Bromley 450 maintains the attention to detail characteristic of the line’s premium finishes. The British brand has also retained the clever threaded mount located beneath the speaker, which is compatible with universal PA tripods. This is a practical solution for use at community events, parties, or concerts in public venues. When placed higher, the Bromley 450 can better utilize its 360° sound dispersion and high power output to effectively provide sound for a patio, a hall, or a large garden.
Durability and extra-long battery life
With an IP55 rating, the Marshall Bromley 450 party speaker outperforms even the Bromley 750, which is limited to an IP54 rating. This Bluetooth speaker effectively withstands dust, splashes, and the minor mishaps that often accompany lively parties. Spilled drinks, splashes near a pool, or the first drops of rain on a patio—the Bromley 450 is designed to keep the party going without a worry. The connectors, battery, and power port are protected behind thick, waterproof, and durable rubber covers.
Marshall has also paid close attention to the speaker’s cabinet, using a dense wooden structure that minimizes unwanted resonance while enhancing the overall rigidity of the speaker. The Bromley 450 immediately inspires confidence thanks to its high-quality build and exemplary stability. Its four large silicone pads ensure excellent grip on the floor, while the reinforced corners effectively protect the speaker from minor bumps and abrupt handling that can occur during a party.

It’s quite simply one of the best performers on the market in the party speaker category, on par with the Bromley 750. Marshall has also taken a more sustainable approach with a removable and replaceable battery. This is a great way to extend the speaker’s lifespan if the battery starts to show signs of wear after several years of use. This design also makes recharging easier, since you simply remove the battery without having to move the entire speaker. Lastly, the speaker can also double as a power bank to charge a smartphone or portable accessory during an outdoor party.
Audio design
The Marshall Bromley 450 Bluetooth speaker features an audio system that’s particularly impressive for its size, with a total amplification of 345 watts powering six drivers. Hidden behind sturdy metal grilles, two 16.5 cm drivers handle the low frequencies, each with its own 90-watt amplifier module. They are supported by 5 cm midrange/tweeters, each powered by 55 watts, positioned across both sides of the speaker to ensure even sound distribution. To further enhance the bass despite the sealed enclosure, Marshall has also incorporated two passive radiators.
Like the Bromley 750, this new Marshall Bromley 450 delivers true 360° sound dispersion. Called True Stereophonic, this technology allows everyone around the speaker to fully enjoy the music, regardless of their position in the room or outdoors. This approach also makes it easier to position the speaker and ensures more consistent sound reproduction at parties or events with many guests.
Bluetooth and connectors
The Marshall Bromley 450 party speaker features a Bluetooth 5.3 controller with Multipoint support, allowing you to connect two devices simultaneously. It supports the SBC, AAC, and LC3 codecs to ensure stable and efficient wireless transmission, as well as Auracast technology. However, the lack of the aptX codec is a bit of a letdown, as it would have allowed for higher bitrates with certain compatible sources.

Auracast compatibility is one of the most interesting features of the Marshall Bromley 450. This technology allows you to stream music simultaneously to multiple compatible speakers—wirelessly and without using a Wi-Fi network. This makes it very easy to provide sound for a large garden, a patio, or multiple spaces during a party by placing several speakers in different areas.
This solution therefore allows you to bypass the coverage limitations of outdoor Wi-Fi. Whereas a traditional multi-room system depends on the quality of the home network, Auracast operates directly via Bluetooth. A second Bromley 450—or any other compatible model—is all that’s needed to extend sound coverage and maintain the same musical atmosphere throughout the house.
In addition to its Bluetooth capabilities, the Marshall Bromley 450 stands out above all for its exceptionally comprehensive range of connectivity options, which make it more akin to a semi-professional speaker than a simple home audio model. It features a USB-C audio port that allows for direct music playback from a computer or smartphone while also charging the audio source. Stereo RCA and auxiliary mini-jack inputs also make it easy to connect a pre-amplified turntable, a CD player, or any other analog source. A 3.5 mm mini-jack output is also included for daisy-chaining multiple speakers.
Marshall rounds out this system with two XLR/6.35 mm jack combo inputs that can be configured for either microphone or instrument mode. Physical controls and app
Like Marshall guitar amplifiers, the Bromley 450 features stunning brushed aluminum knobs that are an integral part of its visual identity. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these physical controls offer an intuitive and particularly pleasant user experience. The front panel includes the power switch, the source selector, the dedicated lighting control, a multifunction button for playback and track navigation, and six knobs for various audio settings.
Naturally, it features the general volume, bass, and treble controls found on the brand’s speakers and amplifiers. Marshall also includes independent controls for the two microphone/instrument inputs, as well as dedicated controls for echo and reverb effects. This approach allows you to quickly adjust the sound without having to navigate through an app or a complex menu. Finally, a button lets you select one of the three available lighting modes or turn them off to conserve battery life.
The Marshall Bluetooth app, on the other hand, is much less impressive. It mainly allows you to adjust the volume, select the active source, and check the exact battery level—even though this information is already available via the indicator light on the front panel. The lack of an equalizer is a real disappointment for a speaker in this category. The same goes for the light effects, whose customization options remain limited. You can only assign the M button to either the Strobe function or Low Volume Mode. In practice, the strobe effect can only be activated from the speaker itself, and its duration is limited to three seconds. This functionality clearly lacks ambition given the Bromley 450’s party potential.

My listening impressions
From the very first few minutes of music, the Marshall Bromley 450 clearly demonstrated its capabilities. I immediately recognized the signature Marshall sound—rich, energetic, and capable of reaching very high volume levels, up to 100 dB SPL. The low frequency response was one of its main strengths. The bass was punchy, deep, and particularly well-suited for upbeat music. Rock, electronic music, hip-hop, and modern pop all benefited from a warm and dynamic sound, designed above all to bring the music to life and get the dance floor moving.
This sound profile naturally emphasizes low frequencies without sacrificing customization. The bass and treble controls make it easy to adjust the tonal balance to suit individual preferences or the style of music being played. It takes just a few seconds to achieve a more neutral sound or, conversely, to further accentuate the impact of the bass.
The Marshall Bromley 450 Bluetooth speaker also impressed me with its power output. Despite being significantly more compact than the Bromley 750, it had enough power to fill a large living room, a patio, or a party hall with sound. In a room of about 30 m², I didn’t need to turn the volume up past three-quarters to enjoy a particularly dynamic atmosphere. The built-in lighting effects also effectively contributed to the festive atmosphere without being over the top.
I also appreciated the True Stereophonic 360° technology, which was already featured on the Bromley 750. It was very effective: the music retained its coherence and impact no matter where listeners were positioned around the speaker. Combined with a more compact design that’s easier to move than its bigger sibling’s, this omnidirectional sound further enhances the versatility of the Marshall Bromley 450. As a result, it stands out as a true all-in-one solution for parties, capable of combining power, ease of setup, and listening pleasure.
Marshall Bromley 450 vs. Sony ULT Tower 9AC
A direct competitor to the Marshall Bromley 450, the Sony ULT Tower 9AC (€690) focuses primarily on its power, party features, and great versatility. This Japanese model features wireless Party Connect linking, a 7-band equalizer accessible via the app, an LDAC Bluetooth codec, and an optical input for use with a TV. Its imposing 32 cm driver also delivers particularly dynamic low frequencies. On the other hand, its weight of 28.5 kg makes it more akin to a portable PA speaker than a portable home audio speaker.
The Marshall Bromley 450 takes a different approach. More compact and half the weight, it’s easier to transport while still offering excellent power reserves. Its build quality is also more refined, featuring a wooden cabinet, brushed aluminum controls, and a finish inspired by the brand’s amplifiers. It also stands out for its built-in battery, which offers up to 40 hours of battery life, compared to the Sony’s reliance solely on mains power.
