When the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L is released in 2021, it will be the first production vehicle to be equipped with a McIntosh audio system for almost 20 years. The two legendary American brands have joined forces to develop an exceptional audio system that pushes the limits of what is possible in hi-fi car audio. This system will turn heads with McIntosh’s iconic design elements, such as the blue VU meters that blend perfectly into the luxurious interior of this remarkable vehicle.
Exceptional sound signature
The McIntosh MX950 system delivers a clear and very powerful sound reproduction with very low distortion. Each seat has its own sweet spot with finely tuned bass so that each passenger can enjoy a sound worthy of the greatest concerts, without any coloration.
In order to replicate the luxury audio experience for which McIntosh is famous in the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, engineers from both manufacturers worked together to combine form and function within the system’s architecture. The teams constantly went back and forth between the test vehicle and the McIntosh reference room to ensure an authentic listening experience. The resulting system is revolutionary and carries forward McIntosh’s philosophies: precise imaging, natural dynamics and harmonic richness to ensure exceptional musicality inside the vehicle.

Audiophile design
The McIntosh MX950 in-car sound system consists of 19 speakers in 12 optimized locations to provide passengers with ultra-precise sound, regardless of their position inside the car. These speakers are powered by a 17-channel amplifier which delivers a total power of 950W.
The McIntosh MX950 system uses LD/HP speaker design with low distortion and incorporates McIntosh Power Guard technology for exceptional clarity, even at very high volume levels. In addition, advanced materials have been used to make the system components lighter while maintaining their rigidity, so that the speakers benefit from excellent responsiveness to ensure an even more faithful sound reproduction.

Iconic design
The shared vision between Jeep and McIntosh was to integrate the same level of quality and the same aesthetics as McIntosh hi-fi devices in the Grand Cherokee L. Consequently, the McIntosh MX950 audio system incorporates a few of the aesthetic cues that make McIntosh electronics instantly recognizable, such as the McIntosh logos with green backlighting, metal ridged control knobs and aluminum frames. The subwoofer grille is emblazoned with the “Mc” monogram which is usually found on the heat sinks of the brand’s amplifiers. A treat for both the eyes and the ears!

The McIntosh MX950 entertainment system will be available in select Jeep Grand Cherokee L 2021 models, including the Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve packages. You will have to wait while before getting behind the wheel of this exceptional vehicle, because it will not be available in the United States until the second quarter of 2021.
