The Technics EAH-A800 noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones have just been announced by the Japanese manufacturer. Successor of the excellent Technics F70 Bluetooth headphones (read our review of the Technics F70), these Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones are more comfortable, more musical but also more efficient in noise reduction than their predecessor.
Supplied in two colors (black and silver) at a price of €349 and available from next February, this newcomer to the very competitive market of high-end noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones has strong arguments to put up against the market’s tenors, which are the Sony WH-1000XM3, Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 700 and Bose QuietComfort QC45.
Technics EAH-A800: overview
The Technics EAH-A800 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones deliver an immersive and detailed sound reproduction. Certified Hi-Res Audio, they support SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs, the latter allowing you to enjoy high-resolution audio files with any compatible source. Equipped with a battery offering up to 50 hours of autonomy, these Technics EAH-A800 headphones have a 3.5mm mini-jack connector to be connected to a non-Bluetooth compatible audio source using the supplied cable. The built-in Alexa voice assistant allows voice control of music playback and incoming phone calls, and these headphones are also compatible with other voice assistants on the market. Their touch control interface also offers great ease of use.
Technics EAH-A800: comfort and ergonomics
The Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones have high-density memory foam earpads covered with a very soft coating. Particularly comfortable, they evenly distribute the pressure on the head to provide secure support and great comfort. The internal diameter of the ear cups is also larger than that of the Technics F70 headphones to envelop the entire ear.
Technics EAH-A800: clarity and detail
The Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones are equipped with 40mm drivers with multilayer cones (PEEK/Polyurethane) which deliver intense and deep bass while maintaining precise and detailed high frequencies.
Technics EAH-A800: Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling
The Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones are equipped with 8 microphones (4 per earpiece) and an advanced noise cancelling system to transmit the voice clearly during every call and let you enjoy music despite the surrounding noise. The integrated Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling technology combines two pairs of noise reduction functions (an analog filter and Feed-Back type microphone, as well as a Feed-Forward type microphone and digital filter). Noise inside and outside the headphones is therefore significantly minimized, helping to eliminate sonic distractions whether the listener is at home or outside.
Technics EAH-A800: stay in control
The Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones’ active noise cancelling technology lets you choose what you want to hear when you’re wearing them. Two specific modes are offered in addition to the standard noise reduction: the Transparent mode to hear everything that is happening outside and the Attention mode which reduces ambient noise but lets external voices through in order to listen to announcements in a train station or airport, for example.
Technics EAH-A800: app and long battery life
Via the Technics Audio Connect app available on iOS and Android, the user can modify numerous settings: noise reduction level, level and type of Ambient Sound mode, battery level display, access to the equalizer (4 presets and 1 customizable), and customization of the touch-sensitive controls.
The high capacity rechargeable battery of the Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones guarantees a very long battery life (up to 50 hours). Fifteen minutes of quick charging also provides up to 10 hours of additional playback.
Technics EAH-A800: Bluetooth multipoint, wearing playback sensor
The Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones provide several very practical features, such as Bluetooth Multipoint which allows them to be connected to two Bluetooth devices at the same time (computer and mobile phone for example) and a wearing playback sensor that stops and restarts playback when the headphones are momentarily removed and put back on. Finally, these Technics EAH-A800 Bluetooth headphones allow you to activate the voice assistant functions of your smartphone via the touch-sensitive sensors on the ear cups.
The Technics EAH-A800 Hi-Res certified over-ear headphones offer great comfort and audio performance with both Bluetooth and wired connections. Characterized by their acoustic qualities, versatility and very efficient active noise cancelling, they place Technics in direct competition with the current leaders of noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones.
