Our music playlists are painstakingly curated over time, through gatherings, parties and new discoveries… And thanks to Shazam! A central element of streaming platforms such as Qobuz, Spotify and Apple Music, playlists allow us to enjoy our favorite music, carefully selected and categorized, with a connected speaker or Bluetooth headphones in public transport. Infinite playlists can be created to match your mood and the time of day when you listen to them.
We cherish our playlists so much that they can become a barrier to changing music services, for fear of having to start from scratch. It’s also a barrier to sharing playlists with friends who subscribe to another platform. So how do you transfer a playlist from one streaming service to another? Here are some applications that will make your life easier.
Soundiiz
Unlike other services, Soundiiz operates the transfer of playlists from a website. Compatible with 45 streaming services, including major names like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and YouTube Music, Soundiiz allows you to clone your playlists from one platform to another. The free version performs this migration on a track-by-track basis, but limits the playlists to 200 tracks.
For €4.50 per month, you can transfer entire playlists. It also opens access to other options like merging or splitting two playlists or exporting your playlists in file format. Very comprehensive, the Soundiiz offer is practical for music lovers who wish to migrate from one platform to another without losing all their precious playlists. It’s also a way to share your playlists with friends who subscribe to other platforms.
FreeYourMusic
The FreeYourMusic application, available on iOS and Android, also allows you to easily transfer your playlists from one platform to another. It has partnerships with about twenty platforms, including industry behemoths YouTube Music, Spotify and Deezer, but also SoundCloud and Napster.
The platform charges a fee and has two principal plans. “Basic” involves a one-time expenditure of €11.99 and offers unlimited playlist transfers from one platform to another, both on the web version and the mobile app. In addition, it has lifetime updates.
On FreeYourMusic, the “Premium” formula costs €39.99 per year. It has the same features as the Basic offer, adding automatic synchronization of playlists and a support service. In addition, the Premium offer provides a backup of all your playlists in the cloud. For most users, the Basic package is more than enough to transfer playlists from one platform to another.
TuneMyMusic
TuneMyMusic is for music lovers who only swear by one or two playlists. The free part of this service allows you to upload up to 500 music tracks. These songs can also be exported in .txt or .csv format. To benefit from unlimited cloning, you have to turn to the paid version of the application, which represents a monthly expense of €4.50. Note that TuneMyMusic only allows the transfer of a playlist that you have created yourself.
SongShift
This application, only available on iOS devices, also allows you to transfer your playlists from one streaming platform to another. Like Soundiiz, the free version clones one track at a time. With SongShift, a shortcut on your home screen offers the ability to quickly share or transfer the last track played.
The “Pro” subscription includes more options, such as unlimited syncing of your playlists from one platform to another, but also sharing your playlist to a friend using another service. The Pro plan, which costs €4.99 per month, also includes saving and importing your music library as .json or .txt files.
With all of these services, you can have peace of mind when it comes to changing your streaming platform. Your precious playlists, the result of a lifetime of passion and collecting, will follow you from one service to the next. The fee-based options of the transfer applications allow you to import a playlist discovered on a third-party platform, or to share your own with a friend who has subscribed to a different platform.
