Renowned for its grandiose architecture and historical heritage, the Roman Theatre of Orange, in partnership with Edeis (an engineering and infrastructure management company), is now hosting an extraordinary immersive show: L’Odyssée Sonore. From May 1, 2023 to December 23, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a totally new experience at this legendary site. Presented as a world premiere, this visual and acoustic adventure pushes the boundaries of musical perception, taking listeners on an extraordinary sensory journey.
L’Odyssée Sonore was conceived from the desire for the Theater to return to its original vocation and to provide all visitors with a visual and sound experience that can be enjoyed with friends or family, or even in groups if the venue is privatized. It is a journey that calls out to our collective imagination, while engaging visitors individually with a tune or a sound that echoes their personal experience, memories and emotions.

L’Odyssée Sonore: the first AI-generated video mapping
In the majestic enclosure of the Roman Theatre of Orange, a monument at the forefront for more than two millennia, L’Odyssée Sonore transports you on an extraordinary journey through mythology.
The experience stands out by using the first video mapping entirely generated by artificial intelligence. Thanks to this cutting-edge technology developed by the startup Imki, scenery, shapes and even faces come to life in a spectacular way. Twenty-five projectors display these captivating images on the ancient facades, the floor and the stands, creating “immersion bubbles” that transport the spectators to the heart of ancient myths.
Gods and muses come to life, while mythological characters guide visitors through fantastic landscapes. Each moment of this 45-minute multi-sensory experience plunges the spectators into an enchanting visual and auditory story, in which they are the main characters.
L’Odyssée Sonore: Focal’s expertise
As far as sound is concerned, the Odyssée Sonore has chosen to work with the French manufacturer Focal. Each participant will be equipped with Focal Bathys Bluetooth headphones specially adapted for the event, allowing them to enjoy a totally new immersive sound experience.
Once the headphones are on, the visitors can discover sound details hidden in the Theatre, like treasures to be unearthed. Melodies audible from a distance invite visitors to come closer or further away, creating a dynamic and interactive experience.
The Odyssée Sonore opens its doors to you from May 1st to December 23rd 2023 for 73 shows. This exhibition can accommodate up to 250 spectators simultaneously thanks to the impressive 5,000m² of the Théâtre Antique d’Orange. This immersive experience starts at €18 and is accessible to children from 7 years of age.
