Technics renews its excellent DJ headphones with the Technics EAH-DJ1200 model, even more powerful and practical for amateur and professional DJs.

What are the differences between the Technics EAH-DJ1200 and RP-DJ1200?

Tailor-made comfort and design for DJs

The brand’s first DJ headphones, the Technics RP-DJ1200, debuted in 1996 and remain one of the most popular DJ headphone models on the market today. Their unique 270-degree swivel mechanism, a distinctive feature that has also been retained in the new Technics EAH-DJ1200, is a major asset for DJs the world over.

A high-quality plastic construction contributes to the headset’s light weight, now just 233 grams without the cable. Combined with a comfortable headband and generously padded anti-perspiration pads, the comfort is unrivalled. Optimum adjustment to the size of the head is ensured by headband extensions, offering a secure fit even during the most intense DJ sessions.

The outline of the two oval earcups on the Technics EAH-DJ1200 headphones is reminiscent of the strobe light on the Technics SL-1200 turntable.

At first glance, the differences between this new version and its predecessor are almost invisible. The Technics brand logo on the earcups and headband, previously purple, has been subtly replaced by a more understated gray hue. There are also details that recall the strobe lights on the platter of the legendary Technics SL-1200 turntable.

Redesigned connection

Beneath this familiar appearance lie significant improvements. One of the most notable is the addition of a replaceable cable, a feature absent from the previous model. It features an ingenious locking device to ensure a secure connection and prevent accidental detachment during performance.

With a 1.5-meter coiled cable and a 1.2-meter straight cable, DJs now have even more flexibility to facilitate their movements. What’s more, a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter is included in the package, offering optimum connectivity for all situations.

New transducers

But the real evolution of this new edition lies in its improved sound quality. Equipped with new 1.57″ transducers with CCAW voice coils, the Technics EAH-DJ1200 DJ headphones deliver even more balanced, transparent sound. From deep bass to detailed highs, the headphones are designed to reproduce every note with great clarity and no distortion, even at high volumes. This superior sound quality not only makes them an ideal choice for DJ performances, but also for studio listening.

A lifelong art enthusiast, I've made my way into the fascinating world of hi-fi and home theater. My trusty headphones are my constant companion, turning every journey into a private concert where I enjoy my favorite podcasts and catchy playlists one after the other. From rock and jazz to soul, rap and pop, my musical and cinematic tastes are very varied. If I'm not drawing or reading, I'm probably watching Friends, which I rewatch every time I finish the last episode.
