REL, Focal, Yamaha, HiFiMAN… The best reviews of April 2026!

From what I know of REL – having owned a Q200E and this T/9x – it’s clear that these are objects to be lived with. A bit like a house: before you start renovating, you need to live in it to understand the spaces, the possible flow of movement, the lighting, and any connections to a garden, a balcony or a view. With a REL, before you find the right settings, lighting and space, you have to experiment with every possible and (un)imaginable configuration, because the ultimate goal—as improbable as it may seem—is the sweet spot.

Remarkable sound. I’m rediscovering my vinyl. Very easy to set up and use. However, I deactivated the automatic lift function because it meant “forcing” the arm down for a new listen and I was afraid this would eventually weaken it.

An excellent outdoor speaker, better than my old Yamaha NS-AW392s. Of course the woofer is bigger, which brings more bass, without going through the amp’s EQ (flat). Mids and highs are perfect. On the other hand, there’s a trade-off: the size of the speaker; it’s much bigger.

After much consideration, I decided to make this purchase. The Q Acoustics 5050s look stunning in white, and the build quality is obvious. They’re solid, as evidenced by their weight (21.6 kg/speaker). Listening to them, the sound reproduction is up to my standards. Low frequencies are nicely present. The addition of a subwoofer is not necessary in a hi-fi configuration. The midrange frees up the vocals. High frequencies are clear and not aggressive. With my tube amplifier, the 5050s are quite warm and immersive. I haven’t listened to all the speakers in the world, but it seems hard to find anything better at this price.

These headphones are my first pair of hi-fi headphones. They are classified as entry-level in their category. Personally, compared with headphones of more modest manufacture, they are remarkable for their build quality, and the packaging is more than decent. When it comes to sound, these headphones are, for me, simply a reference in the first steps of demanding listening. Even if I’m not an expert in details, combined with a portable audio DAC from the same brand, the JT7 suits me perfectly.

For a first audiophile in-ear purchase, I was surprised. Quality of finish, comfort, and ease of use (they’re just missing a volume control 🤔)… At this price, there’s nothing to say except thank you. On the other hand, don’t expect an analytical restitution with these in-ears. They’re lively and dynamic. But I must admit that with the right source (in my case, a FiiO m21), it’s fairly easy to achieve a good balance.

This Samsung TV is excellent quality, it’s stunning. I recommend it to anyone who wants to buy it. It’s true that it’s a bit expensive, but for an 85-inch, there’s nothing to say. The picture is really breathtaking, the remote control is really small, nothing is missing, everything is adjusted automatically. What I also really appreciated is that you can control the TV on your cell phone – there’s a lot of settings in the app. The sound quality is top-notch. It’s true that the TV is 1.90 m long and 1.08 m high, which is quite large. I’d recommend it, it deserves its 5 stars in every respect, and I’m really pleased with my purchase. I like using it for home theater as much as I do for music; in pure direct mode, you really feel the stereophonic image. The build quality is simply incredible, and Yamaha has always correctly sized its power supplies in its receivers. Indeed, for optimum home theater tuning, you need good tech, and to take your time, but the result is exceptional. In short, I highly recommend it.

Very nice image quality. The 4K reproduction is extremely sharp with lots of detail, and colors are rich and natural. Blacks are deep and give excellent contrast, especially in a dark room. Brightness is sufficient for large images, with good HDR management that enhances realism. You really get a cinema feel with an immersive, very clean image.

I have a Rega P3 turntable, an Advance Acoustic max450 amp and Focal floorstanding speakers. I’d been thinking about buying this preamplifier for a long time, but I was in doubt: would it really make a difference? Well, yes! A big difference in volume, punch, definition and soundstage: I’m delighted with my purchase!
