Yamaha is adding to its lineup of wireless hi-fi speakers with the new NX-70A, an active model designed to combine sound quality, modern connectivity, and ease of use. Intended for both music and enhancing TV sound, these new Yamaha wireless speakers incorporate several proprietary technologies developed by the brand. With this launch scheduled for July 2026, the Japanese brand aims to offer a comprehensive, high-end hi-fi solution.

Yamaha NX-70A Active Speaker, Black

A wireless speaker designed for all uses

The Yamaha NX-70A active speakers are designed to meet a variety of needs. They support the major wireless streaming technologies, including Google Cast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect. Their compatibility with the MusicCast ecosystem also allows them to be integrated into a multi-room audio system controlled via the MusicCast Controller app.

The speakers are also Roon Ready. This integration allows you to centralize your local music libraries and streaming services within a single interface while providing enriched information about the content. The Yamaha NX-70A also features an HDMI eARC/ARC port and supports the CEC protocol. A simple HDMI connection to a TV allows you to control volume and power directly from the TV’s remote control.

Active design for superior sound quality

For the NX-70A, Yamaha relies on several proprietary technologies designed to optimize sound reproduction. All drivers feature Harmonious Diaphragm technology, which combines ZYLON fibers and spruce fibers. The goal is to ensure tonal consistency across the entire sound spectrum in order to reproduce vocals and instruments more naturally.

Yamaha is also introducing its new Synergistic Drive technology, developed specifically for these active speakers. This system closely integrates the amplifier and the drivers within a shared architecture to more precisely control the behavior of the transducers and reduce distortion. By connecting the driver directly to the amplifier’s circuitry, the system precisely manages the flow of electrical current, thereby minimizing the distortion that is fundamentally inherent in conventional interactions between amplifiers and speakers.

Automatic calibration tailored to each part

The performance of an audio system depends heavily on its listening environment. To address this, the Yamaha NX-70A wireless hi-fi speakers feature YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) acoustic calibration technology.

Using a dedicated microphone, the system analyzes the room’s acoustics and measures the effects caused by the layout, materials, and speaker placement. The necessary corrections are then applied automatically to achieve a more balanced sound and a more coherent soundstage. This feature is designed to simplify setup while allowing the user to enjoy sound tailored to their listening space, without the need for complex adjustments.

YPAO automatic calibration technology applies the necessary acoustic corrections to maximize the performance of the Yamaha NX-70A active speakers based on the characteristics of the room.

A design that pays attention to every detail, right down to the acoustics

Yamaha has also paid special attention to the design and construction of the new NX-70A speakers. Their cabinets feature a rounded shape that minimizes internal standing waves by eliminating parallel surfaces. This design helps reduce certain resonances that could affect sound reproduction.

The design also incorporates a 5 mm thick aluminum plate attached to the cabinet to enhance the overall rigidity. The solid aluminum top panel and copper accents contribute to the speakers’ visual identity while maintaining a functional design focused on acoustic performance. The speakers also feature a wireless connection between the left and right channels, offering greater flexibility when placing them in a room.

Summary

With its new Yamaha NX-70A active speakers, the brand offers a model that combines wireless playback, compatibility with major streaming services, and proprietary audio technologies. Harmonious Diaphragm, Synergistic Drive, and YPAO technologies are the key technical features of this model, while HDMI eARC connectivity and MusicCast integration expand its range of uses. The Yamaha NX-70A will go on sale in July 2026 for €2,999 per pair. Dedicated SPS-70A stands will also be available as an option for €599 per pair.
