Unveiled earlier this year at CES 2026 and showcased this weekend at IFA, the Hisense PX4 Pro takes the ultra-short-throw projector concept to the next level with technical specifications designed for both home theater and versatile living room use. As the successor to the PX3-Pro, it combines a triple RGB laser light source, a brightness of 3,500 ANSI lumens, and—most notably—a new CineBlack Pro mechanical iris designed to enhance contrast. Hisense has also added advanced gaming features, including a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz in 2K and an AMD FreeSync Premium certification.
Hisense PX4 Pro: triple RGB laser and 3,500 ANSI lumens
The Hisense PX4 Pro projector uses a 0.47-inch DLP DMD chip paired with the manufacturer’s TriChroma triple RGB laser engine. Three laser sources—red, green, and blue—directly produce the primary colors. This architecture allows the manufacturer to claim coverage of up to 118% of the BT.2020 color space, with a Delta E of less than 0.9 right out of the box.
Its brightness reaches 3,500 ANSI lumens, compared to 3,000 lumens for the PX3-Pro. This brightness allows for projection onto a screen ranging from 80 to 200 inches diagonally, whereas the previous generation topped out at 150 inches. Its 0.2:1 throw ratio also allows for a very large image to be projected from a short distance.
HDR compatibility includes Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. The projector is also IMAX Enhanced certified. Combining it with a projection screen designed for ultra-short-throw projectors allows you to make the most of its brightness in a living room with ambient lighting.
CineBlack Pro: a mechanical iris to enhance contrast
One of the key upgrades to the Hisense PX4 Pro is its CineBlack Pro system. This mechanical iris, integrated into the optical block, offers seven adjustment positions. It physically modulates the amount of light to adapt the image to the content and viewing conditions.
Hisense announces a native contrast ratio of up to 6,500:1, a significant improvement over the 3,000:1 ratio announced for the PX3-Pro. This improvement is specifically aimed at rendering dark scenes—a critical factor for perceiving image depth and discerning details in HDR. The seven-position iris also provides greater flexibility to prioritize brightness or black density depending on the viewing environment.
FreeSync Premium and up to 240 Hz for gaming
The PX4 Pro also places a strong emphasis on video gaming. Hisense touts it as the first ultra-short-throw laser projector to be AMD FreeSync Premium certified. This technology synchronizes the display’s refresh rate with the number of frames generated by the source to improve smoothness.
The manufacturer claims a latency as low as 1 ms at 2K and 240 Hz. The projector also supports 2K at 120 Hz and 60Hz 4K. VRR and ALLM features round out this model, which includes two HDMI 2.1 inputs, along with two additional HDMI 2.0 ports.
The VIDAA system also includes Xbox Cloud Gaming. This allows the PX4 Pro to stream games directly from its smart interface.
Devialet audio and ultra-short-throw installation
Hisense has also upgraded the audio section. The PX3-Pro’s Harman Kardon system has been replaced by a 66-watt Devialet 4.0.2 setup, consisting of six 11-watt drivers. Two up-firing drivers help reproduce Dolby Atmos audio tracks.
Two cameras assist with installation by managing, among other things, motorized focus, automatic image adjustment, and keystone correction. Its 0.2:1 throw ratio makes it easy to install right next to the screen, with a picture size of up to 200 inches—just over 5 meters—across.

With the PX4 Pro, Hisense has focused its improvements on three key areas: increased brightness, enhanced contrast thanks to the CineBlack Pro iris, and more advanced gaming features. The triple RGB laser, Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced compatibility, and the Devialet 4.0.2 audio system round out a configuration designed to bring together movies, TV, and video games on a very large screen.
The PX4 Pro is also an example of the rapid evolution of UST projectors, which are now incorporating more technologies from traditional home theater models while retaining their ease of integration in living spaces. It is expected to be priced at €3,500, with availability announced for the end of the year.
