KEF is expanding its catalog of outdoor speakers. Following the Ventura range, the British manufacturer is unveiling a new series designed to provide sound for gardens, patios, and spaces exposed to the elements. Called the Outdoor Collection, this line marks, above all, the arrival of the Uni-Q coaxial driver in outdoor speakers.
KEF Uni-Q comes to outdoor speakers
Developed at KEF’s UK facility in Maidstone, the KEF Outdoor Collection is uses a version of the Uni-Q driver adapted for outdoor use. This technology places the tweeter at the acoustic center of the cone responsible for the midrange and low frequencies. Already featured in the brand’s hi-fi speakers, including the prestigious KEF LS Luxe and KEF LS60 Wireless, this coaxial design is designed to deliver wide and even sound dispersion.
The SR4Q and SR6Q Landscape Satellite models are the two compact speakers in the lineup. They feature 4.5″ and 6.5″ Uni-Q drivers, respectively. Their IP66 rating allows them to be installed in environments exposed to dust and water splashes.
KEF offers several mounting options. These speakers can be mounted on stakes that are driven into the ground or on surface mounts. An optional bracket system also allows them to be mounted high on the wall.
Bollard speakers and subwoofers for large spaces
To provide sound for larger spaces, KEF also offers the BH6Q and BH8Q speakers, equipped with 6.5″ and 8.3″ Uni-Q drivers, respectively. Their vertical design makes them easy to integrate into a garden, around a patio, or in various landscaped areas.
A bollard speaker is a vertical outdoor speaker whose shape resembles a bollard or post. It is designed to blend discreetly into gardens, patios, and landscaped areas, and is typically placed on or fixed into the ground. Depending on the model, part of the enclosure may also be buried to minimize its visual impact. This term is gaining traction, particularly thanks to Bang & Olufsen, which has adopted it directly for its Beosound Bollard line.

In addition, the BQ9 and BQ11 models feature an even more ambitious three-way design, combining a Uni-Q driver for high and midrange frequencies with a dedicated woofer.
The BL8B and BL12B subwoofers round out this system, extending low-frequency reproduction down to 27 Hz and 24 Hz, respectively.
Integration options also play an important role in this collection. The bollard models can be installed on patios or hard surfaces. The subwoofers and three-way speakers are also compatible with semi-in-ground installation.
