Volvo unveils its first electric SUV with a Bowers & Wilkins Dolby Atmos system! To deliver a more immersive sound experience, the new Volvo EX90 features 25 speakers, 1,610 watts of amplification, and a host of advanced technologies. B&W has developed a custom-made audio system with an attractive appearance and undeniable musical qualities.

In terms of performance, the new Volvo EX90 SUV has a 100% electric engine with a horsepower of 496 and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of only 4.9 seconds. As for range, the Volvo EX90 can travel up to 440 km on a full charge.
B&W x Volvo EX90: a Dolby Atmos car audio system
The all-new Volvo EX90 electric SUV is the first in a new series of vehicles to move away from internal combustion engines. All will benefit from a Dolby Atmos spatial audio installation to ensure an enjoyable driving experience.
The Volvo EX90 SUV has 25 speakers and 28-channel amplification with a total of 1610 watts to deliver a wide soundstage. The expertly designed B&W premium surround sound system also has four speakers built into the headrest and four 3D speakers that emit sound from the cabin ceiling. Therefore, the passengers and driver can enjoy an immersive sound experience in Dolby Atmos.

In addition to Dolby Atmos spatialization, the B&W system benefits from various sound technologies, including Virtual Venues, Dirac Unison and Quantum Logic Immersion. Drivers can also take advantage of a vehicle noise compensation technology that measures the vibrations in the car’s interior to make it quieter. In addition, three modes and a multi-band equalizer allow you to enjoy a personalized sound according to your preferences or the type of music you listen to.
The real advantage of electric vehicles is that the engine noise is almost inaudible. This allows the driver to fully experience the three-dimensional sound of the Bowers & Wilkins system. A must to listen to your playlists on a road trip or to liven up your daily commute!

The partnership between B&W and Volvo
The Swedish carmaker has already worked with a high-fidelity specialist: Harman Kardon. The latter was responsible for the audio installations of the XC90, XC60, XC40, V90, V60, S90 and S60 models. In addition, Harman Kardon recently equipped the new Renault Austral, which combines 12 speakers and 485 watts of amplification.
This time, Volvo has put its trust in the prestigious British hi-fi brand Bowers & Wilkins. The latter has already proven its car audio expertise, notably with its partnerships with McLaren and BMW, for whom it created a surround sound system in the BMW 8 Series. Another example is the BMW iX, which was the first all-electric car to be equipped with the B&W Diamond dome tweeter.
And Volvo already offers a Bowers & Wilkins audio system in the 90 and 60 series models. With state-of-the-art speakers and extremely accurate positioning, Bowers & Wilkins car audio systems offer a high level of quality and an authentic musical experience.
Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo Cars says, “The Volvo EX90 is our idea of a large family SUV in the electric age. This inherently software-intensive vehicle embodies the performance of future Volvo models in safety, technology, durability and design for a more personalized experience tailored to each driver.”

The first in a long line of 100% electric vehicles, the Volvo EX90 SUV combines high automotive performance with three-dimensional sound that captures the artist’s intent. This car is available from 107,900 euros. The optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system is priced at €3,070.
