Presented in prototype form at IFA 2023 and at the last CES in Las Vegas, TCL Micro LED technology is coming to the TCL catalog in 2024! Starting this year, the manufacturer will market the TCL 163X11H, a titanic 163″/4.14m UHD 4K model, first on the Chinese market, then internationally…

TCL 163X11H Max: 4m screen!

It’s official: TCL will be launching a giant micro LED TV! The TCL 163X11H Max will offer exceptional brightness and absolute black to boost its HDR display capabilities. We can also expect a wide color gamut and state-of-the-art audio performance for even greater realism and incomparable visual and audio immersion. TCL is following in the footsteps of its two main Korean competitors, the Samsung with The Wall and LG with its Magnit TV, both of which offer their own Micro LED technology. The question is how to get this 4-meter TV into the living room!

TCL redefines the visual experience

This huge TCL 163X11H Max TV could well become the new benchmark for 4K UHD TVs in 2024. Featuring self-emissive Mini LED technology (no backlighting), this technological gem offers incomparable image quality. Each pixel of the image is made up of three tiny RGB micro LEDs, each of which can be individually controlled to provide higher or lower brightness.

The TCL 163X11H is an extraordinary TV: a screen of over 4m across, 10,000-nit brightness, 22-bit color management, anti-glare filter.

As with OLED TVs, it’s possible to completely switch off each pixel to obtain absolute black. What’s more, the ultra-fast response time of these diodes (0.03 ms) augurs exceptional display performance for gaming. Last but not least, the TCL 163X11H’s panel boasts an anti-glare treatment for optimum image quality, even in broad daylight.

Unprecedented brightness, intense colors

Brightness is one of the most impressive features of the TCL 163X11H Max, reaching 10,000 nits! This revolutionary mega-TV can therefore offer greater detail in both high and low light. What’s more, its support for a wide color space with over 22-bit color quantization means infinite nuances in every hue for even more vivid images. All 4K HDR content, including Dolby Vision, is therefore enhanced, each image coming to life before the viewers’ eyes with breathtaking realism.

XXL image and immersive 3D sound

As well as offering an outstanding picture, the TCL 163X11H Max promises a total immersive experience, including sound. It is equipped with a 6.2.2-channel sound system for an enveloping reproduction of Dolby Atmos audio tracks.

The manufacturer should also offer a dedicated soundbar for this TV, with 7.1.4 channels to plunge viewers into the heart of films and series with even greater realism. TCL does not specify whether it will be as wide as this gigantic TV, or whether it will be closer to the current TCL X937U soundbar.

The TCL 163X11H Max in a nutshell

A true technological feat for TCL, the TCL 163X11H Max embodies the Chinese TV manufacturer’s talent for innovation. With its 163″ (4.14m) screen, 10,000 nits and ability to deliver absolute blacks, this TV is destined to offer an immersive visual and sound experience beyond the current limits inherent in OLED and Mini-LED TV technologies. Thanks to micro LED technology, spectators will be able to enjoy their favorite films with exceptional image quality, and play video games with an incredible sense of immersion.

Initially, only the Chinese market will have access to this incredible technological feat. All this comes at a price, however, as the TCL 163X11H Max is priced at 799,999 renminbi (yuan), or just over €100,000! This is an extremely elitist price, even if it does reveal a drop in the price of this technology from €1,000/inch to just over €600/inch…

As a buyer and seller of second-hand high-tech products for around ten years before joining Son-Vidéo.com in 2007, I had the opportunity to test a variety of amplifiers, speakers, headphones, TVs, projectors and DAPs... Passionate about films and series, music and new technologies, I'm particularly fond of the worlds of TV, video projection and home theater. I like to watch films with my family on the big screen, either at the movie theater or at home, but I also enjoy listening to music on a good hi-fi system, sat in a comfy armchair or on a walk with a pair of headphones.
