Sony HT-A5000 and HT-A3000 soundbars: an immersive experience at home

The Japanese brand is expanding its range of Dolby Atmos-compatible soundbars with the highly anticipated Sony HT-A5000 and HT-A3000. Like their larger counterpart, the Sony HT-A7000, these high-end soundbars allow you to go further in sound immersion. Audiophiles and moviegoers are in for a treat. Developed to provide a unique immersive experience, Sony‘s two new products are based on a concentration of technologies. On the menu: immersive sound, Vertical Surround Engine, S-Force PRO Front Surround and 360 Spatial Sound Mapping.

Sony is ambitious in its promise to put you at the heart of your favorite movies and music. To achieve this, the Japanese firm relies on surround sound. For the sake of realism, the center drivers of the HT-A5000 and HT-A3000 soundbars are dedicated to dialogue. The two dedicated woofers provide more depth to the sound. This way, the surround experience is brought into your home.

As you can see, the HT-A3000 bar has 3.1 channels (5.1.2 channels for the HT-A5000). Leveraging Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround technologies, the HT-A3000 and HT-A5000 virtualize multi-dimensional surround sound to convey the full emotion of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio. The HT-A5000 has nine drivers, two of which are dedicated to bass, compared to five drivers for the Sony HT-A3000. Logically, the most extensive soundbar has a larger format. It is 1210mm wide, 67mm high and 140mm deep. More compact, the HT-A3000 is 950mm wide, 64mm high and 128mm deep.

HT-A5000 lifestyle
With support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X tracks, the Sony HT-A3000 and HT-A5000 soundbars provide multi-dimensional surround sound perfect for putting you right in the middle of the action in movies, TV shows and video games.

With the HT-A3000 and HT-A5000 soundbars, you can access Sony’s revolutionary 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology. Simply connect them to the SA-RS5 and SA-RS3S1 wireless surround speakers. Without moving your furniture or worrying about the precise position of the speakers, this technology ensures that the sound is adapted to the room’s configuration. It measures the relative height and position of each element in the audio system using Sound Field Optimization. To produce 360-degree sound, it synthesizes sound waves and creates up to twelve phantom speakers from the physical speakers.

Ideal with Sony TVs

To ensure an optimized performance with the HT-A3000 and HT-A5000 soundbars, you can pair them with a compatible Sony BRAVIA TV. The new Acoustic Center Sync3 technology allows you to synchronize the speakers of your home theater system with those of your TV. This way, you will get a better performance and an even more immersive sound experience.

With the Sony HT-A3000 and HT-A5000 soundbars, you benefit from a new way to enjoy sound effects with 360 Reality Audio. This technology faithfully reproduces an immersive concert experience. Therefore, it is possible to enjoy 360 Reality Audio on Amazon Music HD, and TIDAL.

Connected soundbars

In addition, the HT-A3000 and HT-A5000 provide easy access to music services like Spotify. Streaming all your favorite albums and playlists using Chromecast, Spotify Connect or Apple AirPlay 2 protocols is still possible. Of course, Sony soundbars have built-in Bluetooth and WiFi. You can stream your music from your smartphone, tablet or laptop. Note that both soundbars are compatible with devices equipped with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. To do this, simply add the soundbar to your speaker group via the Google Home or Alexa app.

The HT-A3000 and HT-A5000 feature DSEE Extreme technology. The latter restores all the details of compressed digital audio files in real time. The result: a high-end sound. It cancels the losses caused by compression and provides a richer, more exhaustive listening experience.

A complementary range for an enhanced experience

The system then produces even more solid and impactful low frequencies. You have two choices for generating deeper bass, clearer vocals and superior fidelity with all types of audio content.
The Sony SA-SW5 subwoofer produces 300 watts of deep, rich bass with its 180mm driver and passive radiator. The more compact Sony SA-SW3 offers 200 watts of powerful bass from its 160mm driver.
