The High End Hi-Fi show is an international event that brings together the main manufacturers and music enthusiasts, especially vinyl lovers, every year. Among other things, this exhibition offered visitors the opportunity to discover three high-end audiophile objects: the Goldring E4 phono cartridge, the Mo-Fi Phono Master phono preamplifier and the Rega Planar 3 turntable in a limited edition to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary.

Goldring E4

Let’s start with the Goldring E4 phono cartridge. This technological gem offers superior audio reproduction. With a design compatible with all medium to high mass tonearms and state-of-the-art materials, the Goldring E4 offers an immersive and captivating listening experience for the more discerning audiophile.

The Goldring E4 Goldring cartridge is designed to be the ultimate upgrade for any modern entry-level or midrange turntable, and represents the pinnacle of E-series engineering and performance.

Mo-Fi Phono Master preamp

Visitors were then able to discover the MoFi Phono Master phono preamplifier. The latter pushes the limits of sound performance and record reproduction and can amplify all cartridges. The brand, known for its careful designs with first class components, offers exceptional clarity and dynamics with this phono preamp, allowing music lovers to rediscover their favorite vinyl records with unprecedented precision. And what about the sublime Vu-meters on the front? We love them!

Rega Planar 3 50th anniversary

Finally, at the end of the aisle, visitors were able to visit the Rega stand to discover the 2023 limited edition of the Rega Planar 3 turntable. Indeed, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company, the record player is adorned with a walnut effect finish, a high-end Neo PSU MKII external power supply, a structural reinforcement and, among other surprises, the pulley from the Planar 6 turntable which has been adapted for the Neo PSU MKII power supply. A Planar 3 on steroids at an unbeatable price.

The vinyl news continued at the JBL booth, where we could discover the two latest turntables from the brand, initially announced at CES 2023. After many years of absence in the vinyl sector, the American manufacturer delivers a first model: the Spinner BT. This aptX HD Bluetooth player comes in a striking orange and black finish. With an MDF base, the player features an aluminum platter and tonearm equipped with an Audio-Technica moving magnet cartridge.

The JBL Spinner BT turntable is an aptX HD Bluetooth model that comes in a striking orange and black finish that is undeniably reminiscent of the brand’s colors.

The TT350 Classic high-end model, on the other hand, is a direct drive record player and not a belt driven one like the BT Spinner. A feature usually found on DJ decks. The TT350 has a walnut wood frame and an aluminum front panel, in a style directly borrowed from the 60s. The TT350 Classic also includes an Audio Technica moving magnet cartridge pre-installed on an S-shaped tonearm. Unlike the Spinner BT, the JBL TT350 does not have a built-in phono preamplifier. Finally, a small detail that is important, the model includes adjustable feet equipped with shock absorbers to maximize playback accuracy.

The JBL TT350 turntable will be ideal in a vintage 60s-style interior.

The Spinner BT turntable should be available for 490 euros and the TT350 for 1090 euros.

The Dark Side of Pro-Ject

The Austrian brand has often surprised us with its Artist series. At the Munich High End 2023, Pro-Ject delighted us once again with a prototype in homage to the most famous album in modern history, The Dark of the Moon. This belt-driven model, although it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, does not fail to match the legendary album cover.

It’s impossible not to think of the famous album when you see this sci-fi record player! Everything is there: the light effect that enters the triangular base of the turntable on the left emerges on the right as scattered rays of color, backlit for even more flair. The latter support the straight tonearm, which is also transparent, and, as the icing on the cake, a glass prism puck sits on the turntable. A marvel.
